Fall School Vacations?

Our school here in Western Kentucky always schedule their fall break the first and sometimes the second week of October. We wen't to WDW in October in 2003 during fall break and it was great, but I hear crowd size has increased during that time frame with the increase of participating schools than before.

It's October 9th to 13th this year.

Wow! We only get one day off in October- Monday, 10/7. We do have 2 teacher workdays in November- Tuesday the 7th and Friday the 10th. I don't know of anyone planning to do WDW that week, but I'm sure some folks will.

Our school system in central Kentucky started school on Aug 2. We have fall break the first week in Oct. Some of the other local schools have two weeks of break in early Oct. I know schools in the Louisville area don't start for another week or two, and I don't know if they have a fall break.

Sounds to me like with all the differences all over the States, you would be hard pressed to find a week when there wasn't an area somewhere with the schools off. I wouldn't worry too much about it therefore.

Coming from the UK I don't know when your labour or columbus days are. Could someone let me know? Thanks

Thank you... We went this past October (10-17) and WDW was pretty packed, when we asked why... alot of people were saying they were on Fall Vacation.... So, I figured..... I would try and find out what week/weeks fall vacation is....

I was also here that week last year and will be back this year, as many local districts have 3-5 day breaks between Oct 9-16.

My district has off Fiday Oct 13 and Monday Oct 17th. Fort Wilderness is booked solid that weeked and the weekend prior.

We have a break at the end of October. October 25 is a half day and Oct 26 & 27 are full days off. All Wisconsin public schools have off Oct 26 & 27 for teacher's convention (they have that every year the last Thurs. & Fri. in Oct). We're going Oct 26-Oct 31. DD will miss 2 days of school. Sounds like a lot of other schools are out at this time too!

We're part of the famous Jersey Week, although my kids have never had the entire week off. This year it's Nov. 7, 9, and 10th.

Labor Day is September 4th and Columbus Day is October 9th :sunny:

:wave2: Question... to anyone who has been to WDW the Week of Halloween; Do you find it more crowded? What about the MNSSHP? :confused3 Just curious... so happy 2007 rates are out... I want to book... Just want to get the most out of our vacation......

PS... not crazy... I know WDW is always pretty crowded, I mean extra crowded because of the Halloween festivities.... :hmghost:

Ours countys is the first two weeks of October.

October 9 through 20th is the county wide Fall Break.

This is TN by the way.

In New Jersey the New Jersey Education Assoc. convention is generally held Thurs. and Friday of the 2nd week in November. Since election day is the 2nd Tues. in November the schools usually throw that Wednensday in as an "inservice day" So I will be in Disney and the kids will only miss 1 day of school! :cheer2:

Hi there! In the panhandle of Florida here . Santa Rosa county has the first week of Oct. off {2-6}. Escambia county has the third week off {16-20}. These are neighboring counties so just thought i would give you both.

In southern middle Tennessee Fall break is the entire 1st week of October this year.

our Fall Break runs from after school on Friday, September 29 and the kids return on Monday, October 16. The dates vary as much as Spring Break, though... but most of them will fall sometime between late September and mid-October.

We started School aug 4th.

We started school on August 2.

are you in Hardin or Larue County? :)

We are In Wilson Co Tennessee...(middle Tn area)

We started school the 2nd of Aug. and we get the first two weeks of OCt. off for fall break

We are going to Disney the first week of our break. I asked several people who have gone the first week and the second week of Oct. and the first week is less crowded. I think the 2nd week of Oct. falls when columbus day is so a lot of schools take that week for their fall break.

Cant wait until OCTOBER :cool1: :cheer2: :yay:

I am really sorry this post is way off topic, but I just had continue anyway.

This may seem a bit weird to you, but my name is Kate and my middle name is Beth. I was freaked out when I saw your username and just had to mention that. I have never met anyone with the same names as me :lmao: ( I am assuming here that is your name  )

Sorry, do continue. Very informative thread by the way, still think it would be impossible to go on a week when there wasn't any schools off though!
