Fall room discounts?

The silence on discounts is, as they say, deafening. Yeah I still see open rooms EVERYWHERE for my stay dates. I think Disney is overplaying their hand on GE.
Well they sure are at Disneyland so I don’t see why they’re gonna treat WDW any differently. Even had a report of someone who negotiated 3 extra nights into their stay at Grand CA on the day they were to check-out who was given a room one category up for just slightly more than they were paying and the 3rd night for less than they’ve ever paid for a night at GCH. They’re hurting on the ground but corporate won’t even release military rates back into the system. Disney has their head buried in the sand out here regarding SWGE & hotel rooms. I think WDW will see discounts because it runs more discounts than DLR but I expect them to be stingy. (Admittedly the new one that gives you a stroller rental is even stingier than I thought Disney would go.)

Was really hoping this would be the week discounts would be announced (assuming they are going to be announced at all). I have been eyeing a very cheap set of flights for when I would like to go and I know the prices won't last but it is unlikely I will take the trip without any room discount at all. And I am quickly approaching the point where my dog sitter might not be available if I don't book soon. Disney planning problems! :charac2:

We are in the same situation. The only way it is may work out for us is that we had enough airline points to book our flights so we can fully cancel. If something doesn't come out by the end of next week we will most likely pick another vacation spot.

I recently got a PIN code for the first time ever, but it's only good for the summer. Alas, my summer is booked pretty solid with work, camps, and other vacations.

I was planning to get APs and do a few trips this year, but with the AP hike catching so many of us off guard (me included), it doesn't make sense for me to buy unless I can make up the difference with a really good room discount.

Now I'm wondering if Disney will go the PIN route to avoid the appearance of discounting this fall, but still fill some of their as-of-now empty rooms.

Oooohhh... Disneyland just released discounts to Visa holders for the next month, this is practically unheard of discounting DLR in July. Finally an acknowledgement SWGE isn't the be all end all- maybe we'll get decent WDW discounts after all...

I hope not. No one in my family ever gets them :(

I ended up cancelling my rack rate POR reservation and booking the same room for the same 8 nights on Priceline. It was 10% off on Priceline and I went through Ebates so I saved about $260. It’s not much but it’s something for now. I am waffling on booking the Swan which works out another $300 less for us, but I had my heart set on onsite this time. If I booked the Express deal it was non refundable and I’m not convinced we aren’t going to see some kind of discount still.

The new offer with the stroller rental is really a new low as far as "offers" go.

where do you see that?

where do you see that?
It was emailed to me. Some people called to book it but have been told it’s only for those who got the Disney Visa email but that would be weird, we haven’t seen a targeted discount to only some cardholders before.

Oh, I'm certainly not hoping Disney goes the PIN route. I just got my first one ever, and can't even use it.

It just occurred to me that Disney might try it, since they're trying so hard to create the appearance of the awesomest most sought-after park time ever.

Time will tell, but I think Disney's business might have been better if they just opened the whole thing in "late fall" as originally planned. The early opening with only one ride ready and no hard answer about the next phase has just introduced too much uncertainty. Many non-SW fans are scared off by the rumored crowds (people who were planning to book for Sept and October to beat the opening are cancelling), and many SW fans are holding off until its finished.

Hmmmmmmmmm I have a Disney Visa card but have never been e-mailed an offer. did you have to sign up for that? I'm on the site and the only e-mail alerts I can find are for bill due, payment received, etc.......

actually i found it............... i'm already signed up for all the special offers, but i never get emails from them..... :sad1:

actually on third check, i do have some emails from them which i just deleted since they weren't disney related LOL

I think the low was when Disney added a free round of mini-golf to a hotel only reservation. The result was a package reservation with package payment and cancellation terms.

Oh, wow! I wouldn't have even thought about something so insignificant turning a booking into a package, but you're right! That's crazy sneaky.
