Fall/Fall Advantage 2008

When I get the chance, I will open up a blog to track my CP. I will be sure to let you all know when I do!

Thanks for all your blog links!

Joanna I started reading yours - it's good I love reading it!

I bookmarked it just to let you know :)

The blogs are definitely making me feel alot more comfortable about the whole process. Question for Joanna or anybody who knows, I stumbled upon a list of questions they could ask in the interview. The one that's really throwing me off as to how to answer it is: "What do you like least about your current job or a previous one?". While I'd really love to be honest I don't want to come off negative, for the most part I really love my job at it's core, but as with any job there are little things that bug me. Is there any right or wrong way to answer this?

That sounds like a good answer to me. As long as your honest and have a great attitude, you should be fine!!

Honestly....two months will go by quickly for me but when i think about it....it will go by slowly!! hey have you paid your 75 dollars yet?:smickey:

No, not yet. I'm having a log-in issue.

I found it on a livejournal group page for the college program awhile back. I copied it into a word document, saved it, and then forgot about it for awhile until I just stumbled upon it while cleaning out my documents.

General Questions
Disney Questions

- What is your favorite Disney experience?

- Why do you want to do the Disney College Program?

- What do you expect to get out of your experience?

- What are some qualities that you would look for in an applicant for the Disney College Program if you were a recruiter?
Do you feel you embody these qualities?

- Who is your favorite Disney character and why?

- How does your personality related to your favorite character?

Work Questions

- Best thing about your current/or a past job (if you have had one)?

- Worst thing about your current/or past job (if you have had one)?

- What you enjoy most about your job?

- How would you deal with challenges?

- Do you speak any other languages? How fluently?

- What is your favorite job of all the ones you have listed?

- Where do you see yourself in five years?

Living Questions

- Do you feel comfortable living with a diverse group of people?

- How would you deal with conflicts or issues with your roommates?

- How would you handle living in an apartment where there might be some people who are tidy/messy and any issues that arrive?

- How many people would you want to live with?

- If your roommate worked nights and you worked mornings how would you get to know them?

Role Specific Questions

Merchandise

- What would you do if someone wanted an item that was not at the location you worked at?

- How would you deal with long lines at the location you worked at (unhappy/cranky customers)?

Operations

- What would you do if a child who really wanted to ride a particular attraction was too short?

- How would you handly if a child was kicking/screaming stating that they did not want to ride the attraction?

- What would you do if a ride was broken down and you had to tell the people in line that it was?

Character Attendant/Character Performer

- How would you deal with a situation if a child/individual was kicking a character?

- What would you do if a child was crying and did not want to take a picture with a character/or with you (as a character)?

- How would you get the attention of a child who had their back to you?

- What would you do if your set was up and it was time to leave but people were very upset?

Hospitality

- What would you do if you were checking in a family that had requested a non-smoking room and the only thing that you had left was a smoking room?

Quick Service Food & Beverage

- Would you be willing to do this role? (note: this is a high demand role and if you say that you would be willing to do it, there is a good chance you will get placed in it, so be honest. I said that I would be willing to do it if that is what it took to go on the College Program, but I wouldn't choose it otherwise.)

Mouselleaneous

- They may ask you what you hope to get out of the roles you have selected.

- How would you bring magic to these roles?

- They may ask you if you had a preference on where to work
- a particular park, resort, Downtown Disney. Sometimes they will even ask about a favorite attraction if you applied for operations.

Some Tips

- Unless you do not have one, give your house/dorm room (or any landline) phone number rather than a cell phone for a phone interview. I think it's way too risky to use a cell phone, when you never know when your connection might give out and you do not want to be disconnected during your interview!

- Smile! Even though you might be on a phone interview, they can still tell when you are smiling and upbeat.

- Take your time answering questions. They would rather you spend a few moments thinking up an intelligent and well thought-out answer than you just shooting something out of your mouth (that you may regret later).

- Be enthusiastic! They want to know how much you really want to do the program!
- Don't be afraid to brag about your love of Disney: I've told about how I convinced my parents to buy into the Disney Vacation Club and how I have become the official Disney vacation planner at my house, which means I am in charge of making resort reservations, dining reservations, and planning which park to go to on which days.

- Ask questions. It shows that you have a genuine interest and you can learn something you didn't know.

- Try to remember the interviewer's name and call them by it. It brings the conversation to a more personal level.

- Thank the interviewer for their time.

- Even though it is a phone interview, still dress professionally and act like you would in a face to face interview. I definitely agree that you should act the same way you would in a face-to-face interview, but I never went as far as to dress professionally. I was in my pjs, sitting on my couch, nice and comfy!
-Do not be afraid of silence. This is how interviewers may test how you would react out of your comfort zone.

No, unfortuntely friends and family cannot stay overnight in the apartments. It's part of the contract that you have to sign when you start the program. You do however get discounts on the WDW resorts. Also, getting time off is really difficult to do. You may get lucky and your area will give you a few days in a row off, but it is very unlikely.

The one that's really throwing me off as to how to answer it is: "What do you like least about your current job or a previous one?"... Is there any right or wrong way to answer this?

They're looking for an honest answer. You don't want to be disloyal to your current employer, but by the same token, they want to hear about any conflict you've experienced and how you've managed to mitigate & resolve it.

Nope, no one external of the cast members who live in your particular complex can stay overnight. If anyone is found to be in your apartment past 1 AM who is not a resident at your complex, you can face disciplinary action not excluding termination. Like wendy darling noted, you will recieve a large discount on resort accomodations after your first official day with the company, Traditions.

As far as days off go, the amount of time you can take off is limited, and is based largely on your area. Keep in mind that you must be scheduled at least 30 hours a week, irregardless if you want that many hours or not. There are strategies that you can make work for you: back-to-back your days off (this is a continuous four day period) and trade shifts (which is unlimited). I've gotten a full week off using these method- pretty simple. At any rate, if you agree to any offer made by Disney, you are agreeing to be fully avaialble for the duration of the program as it is offered, with no pre-stated provisions for vacationing or returning back home.

Greetings,

Congrats to those who have been accepted my daughter is going crazy checking the mailbox everyday, but you know that routine :)

For those who have been accepted for the Fall program (not advantage but the one which starts mid-August). Can you please share what dates in August you could select from as your start/ending dates.

I need to schedule my time off to drive her to Orlando and if I had an idea of when the dates fall it would be really helpful.

Thank you and please know that you are special people as you truly make magic for others, and I thank you for that -- tory
