Hey! I finally got my letter today! I got accepted but I am very upset because I got qsfb. I really do not want this role. No offense to those who have it, I really wanted attractions and to be able to interact with people, not sit in a fast food restaurant. I don't think I will accept. It may not be worth it to leave my school and fiance for 5 months to work in fast food. If I got another role then of course I would have left.

I'm very upset!:sad1: I really wanted to do this program but not in this role. I know they said once they offer you a role you have to accept it and there no chance of getting it changed right? Man, all this waiting and anticipation for the biggest let down of the year.

:sad1:

aww.. it might not be that bad though!! you should give it a try at least.. you should really really consider doing it.. you might regret not doing it

I really wanted to do this to get to a PI in the animal programs and also help me work on public speaking, being in front of people, etc. Id be giving up a lot. Repaying loans quicker having to stay in school an extra quarter or 2 and leaving my fiance for 5 months. I dont know if its worth it to be in fast food, but I really wanted to do attractions or even anything else than being in the back with no guest contact which is mostly what ive heard it is.

Does anyone know any options that I might have? I still really want to do the program but this was one of the only roles I didnt want.

CelticBelle- Congrats on getting accepted! :thumbsup2 :cool1: I did my CP Spring '06 in QSFB. I worked at All-Star Music. I enjoyed working there. I worked in the front of the house. Guests would come up and tell me there order and I would get it for them. I was also trained at cashier. You do have lot of guest interaction. You are not in the kitchen making the food. Culinary does 95% of the cooking. At my location we had to cook fries and chicken fingers, everything else culinary made for us and we just had to prepare it for the guests. It really is a great time! Good Luck with whatever you decide! I met a lot of great friends there. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me!

Hey!!
Okay, I'm sure you've heard this a lot, but QSFB is not that bad at all. I worked at the Polynesian for Spring 2007, I loved it there! I met a lot of people, from full/part timers, other CPs, and the culinary staff. Everyone was so interesting and fun. And for the most part, I loved my job. I did everything, from register to stocking to dinning room to helping in the kitchen. I had A LOT of guest interaction, and was involved in doing a couple of "magical moments." I was also so busy, the time passed by so quickly. I had a blast though.
But if you go into the role with your mind made up that it's going to be bad and you are not going to like it, then that might make your experience a bad one. I think to go into any role, you have to have an open mind, and make the best out of your situation. Doing QSFB for the first time, I had no idea what to expect, and with the knowledge I gained from what I learned, I used that to my advantage. It honestly is not that bad, if you really want to work at Disney. ;)
I don't know if you can request to get a different role, but I know that if you are not happy with your location after 2 weeks (?) you can try to switch, but i think it takes a while, so it's not really worth doing.
I say go in with an open mind, and make the best of it! :cutie:

Plus, my experience was obviously not bad , as i am going for another program this Fall!

see thats how i see it... if you want to work at disney bad enough then youll do whatever they give you... haha are you going down for fall advantage? im sooo excited i feel like may19th cant come fast enough

Did you put QSFB on your role checklist? I specifically didn't because I really didn't want it. During my interview, the CM said that I absolutely would NOT get a role that I didn't check.. so if you didn't check it then you can appeal it. QSFB does pay higher than the others though- that might be something to keep in mind. But yeah, it sucks if it's not something you really want.

Couldn't agree more with the above posters. Plus keeping a positive attitude really makes a difference. The job is just something you do for some hours out of the day, that's nothing. The experience is going to be so much more than that. You get to experience a new place to live, new people, new environments. Being away from your family and significant others is hard, I know, I went abroad twice in college. But actually it can be a very helpful thing, you grow and mature SO much, you learn to be self-sufficient and have loads of new experiences. I couldn't believe it when I'd been in London for a week and I already knew the whole subway system and was getting around on my own and exploring and coming home with exciting stories for my flatmates. Don't give up on your Disney dreams just yet, really take some time to think it over. And absolutely without a doubt discuss it with your family and fiance, you might be surprised what they say. And obviously the rest of us Disney nuts on here want you have a good time, plus we'd like to meet you and all! There's so many helpful people on the boards here who've experienced everything you're going to experience. And well, us newbies, we'll be there to discuss our feelings too. We're all also excited and nervous and unsure. Sorry for the speech, I can't help it, I like everyone to be happy. I hope whatever decision you make that it's the best for you and that you feel good about it! Okay, speech over.

Jessie, I TOTALLY understand being frustrated by the mail. I was checking mine four times a day towards the two week mark, much to the enjoyment of the desk aides who would remind me that the mail only got delivered once a day. What are you trying to do to us Disney, kill us? I'll cross my fingers that you hear good news soon!

I am so sorry to hear you didn't get what you wanted. I was very nervous about the same thing happening to me. I know you are disappointed but like everyone says, its what you make it. You seem like such a fun, friendly person - I am sure they'd see that too and keep you up front with the guests. But if in your heart you know you will be disappointed the whole time, then maybe you shouldn't go.

I have another option for you:
Disneyland has the College Program too and they just opened up housing! They have different roles there, but it might be something to look into, if you decide not to take the QSFB at WDW. Im going to try to do it next year. They have Photopass Photographer as one of their roles, I want that one!

Hang in there, and really think about it before you pass up the opportunity.

Awww, I'm sorry tohear that. At least give it a try though. Who knows- it may not be that bad (I'm doing it too. Not my top choice, but oh well).

thanks for the advice everyone. Im going to have to think about this for a while. I know that i really want to do the program and I know I would have a great time no matter what, But I have worked in restaurants before and not fast food type. I absolutely hate working in food and so does my fiance. He worked in a restaurant for several years also.
I know that I put it on my role checklist, but I regretted it right after. I didnt tell them in my interview that was what i wanted but she kept asking questions about it anyway and then told me that I HAD to initial next to it on my checklist. I felt like I was stuck with having to and i was going to try and email them to tell them i wanted to take it off, but they said they already mailed my packet. I was so afraid that they would give it to me on default without even considering my other options, and I feel thats what they did.
I know that Im being grumpy and stubborn..it goes along with an already bad day. I also know that disney wants you to be happy int he role that youre in. I have to think about it and discuss it. I may still do it just to participate in the program.

Thanks for all your kind and encouraging words. Im sorry if I offend anyone with my grumpiness:mad:

Oh, you're not! If you can't talk to us about it, then who can you? I know my peers have no idea what I'm talking about when I use terms like roles and what they do. Would you be able to apply for the Spring 09 program?

unfortunately not. Im on the quarter system and the only program that works for me is the fall. The spring covers 2 of my quarters and the quarter programs do the same thing! I have no idea who came up with our schedule.
