Hi There! I have only gone in the spring before and since we have APs this year and I won an airline ticket (yay!!!) I think I have talked my husband into taking a trip for the food and wine festival!
We are thinking of going a Thurs - Fri and my dates I'm thinking of are either:
Sept 29 - Oct 7 (I can get value rates for the first few days then move on over to a DVC from Sn - Fri)
Oct 13 - 21
Oct 20 - 28

We want to miss any crowds for Columbus day, and would live to go the the Food and Wine festival as well as a MNSSHP if possible.
Any info would be great. When would you choose and why?
Thanks!

When do the Halloween festiveties start? If it were me, I'd try to do as much and see as much as I could. ( I'm the comando type pirate: )Have fun

We went in the first week of Oct. in 2002 and the place was nearly deserted. Well deserted by Disney standards anyway. We have wide angle pictures of our DD in the MK with noone else even in the picture. And on a return trip to POR from AK we were the only ones on the bus. It was one of our best trips ever and the weather was great, even though it still was hurricane season. The only drawback for you could be not having MNSSHP, it think the first week in Oct. is too early for that. Hope this helps.

I'd choose Sept. 29-Oct.7...we were there during that time last year and it was awesome!! Crowds were low and the weather was beautiful....sunny and warm...we were lucky, we missed all of the hurricanes :) F & W is out of this world and so worth it....we did MNSSHP on 10/3 which I think was the second night and it was soooo much fun...highly recommend it. Not sure if the 2005 dates are out yet but I definitely think you'd be able to get to one if you choose the Sept/Oct dates.....good luck and have fun!!

I also would choose Sept 29th - Oct 7th. This would allow you to do all you want plus doesn't appear to be that crowded with all the kids back in school and well before fall breaks start.

No..No..No..Dont choose the first week... hehehehe that is when I am going..just trying to keep the crowds down... Let me know if you choose this week, would love to know who from here I may have the opportunity to run into...

I'm going on the first week as well !!! Oct 3 to Oct 13th - our honeymoon! Can't wait - so excited.

I'm going then too! October 1- 8, but Oct 1 and 2 will be at Universal, leaving the 3-8 for WDW! I can't wait. :teeth:

Our last trip was Oct.16-23rd. It was by NO means deserted, but the crowds were very managable. The Food and Wine Festival made Epcot more crowded, but the rest of the parks were 20-30 minute wait time for just about everything. The weather was close to perfect not a single rain drop :sunny: but not too hot eaither. SO far this is my favorite time to go.

We were there the week before Columbus Day in 2003 and literally walked onto rides. It was WONDERFUL! Of course, as the week wore on, that was a different story. Very crowded!!!!!

I would go with 9/29 as well. You get to go to the Halloween party and enjoy lower crowds. We planned to go October 15-23 this year and our travel agent told us it was packed that time last year. Go early and avoid the crowds!

Another one here agreeing on the 29th. Low crowds, warm weather, and the wonderful Food and Wine Fest. Disney hasn't posted the dates for the MNSSHP yet.

We went from Sept 30- October 7th in 2001 for our honeymoon. It was really nice weather and the park was deserted, however that may have been because September 11th was two weeks before that .. However it was a great time and the cool thing was being there on Oct 1st which is that Magic Kingdom's birthday. Good Morning America was there with Mickey and my mom says she saw us on tv. Also when we went to the Country Bear Jamboree we got to sing Happy Birthday to the bears because they had just turned 30.

Have a Magical Trip

I just double-checked and my FH & me, we were there in 2003 - Oct 7 to Oct 12 and it was wonderful. When we went to Magic Kingdom, we started at the way-way back because people were starting at the front and going at the back so we went in some rides pretty quickly - no lines up, we were litterally ALONE... Then, by noon... there's was more line ups but nothing outrageous.

Our experience...

I am going October 1-8 this year. MNSSHP has dates of Oct 2,4 and 7 for the time we will be there so you won't miss out on that. Plus Food and Wine festival starts at the beginning of October.

We're going 10/2 - 10/9. Figured good weather, lower crowds and mnsshp. :)
