i actually have three questions. It looks like the dates we are looking at going would either be the week before or after dapper days. Since we will need to book a hotel anyway, we were thinking of participating in dapper days to take advantage of the great rate. So here are my questions. 1. Can I use Disney Visa reward dollars to book the DL hotel room (not sure which one yet) at the convention rate? 2. Does dressing up on Friday and going to the parks count as participating? (I know they have no way of "verifying" participation in the convention and we don't plan on being big participants, but I also do not want to be dishonest and not book a rate we do not qualify for.) 3. Is it more crowded before dapper day (so the 14-18) or after (18-23.) I am guessing before would be better as it is primarily weekdays vs. the weekend. Thanks! (Oh- and how fast do these special rates book up? We were hoping to see the Halloween overlay but it is my understanding that the start date of that is not yet known.) Thank you!

Yes.

Nothing is needed to book the rates. Dressing up is pretty fun though (however I will NOT be doing a September Dapper Day again... HOT is an understatement.

It has been my experience that the dates surrounding DD are indeed more crowded than other times.

They book up quick, however occasionally they will release additional blocks of rooms. I'd just book early (they might actually be sold out already). Halloween overlay will NOT be in effect yet.

I've done three DDs and they are a blast. You can see them in my signature.

Halloween overlay will NOT be in effect yet.

Curious why you think Halloween will not be up by September 14-23? Typically the Halloween overlay opens the second Friday of the month, which would be September 11 this year. Even if it was delayed a week that would be September 18, the second set of dates the OP mentioned. Assuming they do a Halloween overlay this year, it'd be odd if they didn't but who knows with the 60th, I'd expect it the second weekend of the month.
