In the past couple of years, DVC has offered point discounts for low season, fall cruising. Has anyone seen anything yet about that this year or remember when in past years those were first offered? We're starting to plan.
You might want to call Member Services...I saw over on the DVC board posted that there is a special. 9/1-29 for the 3-4 night and 9/7-28 for the 7 night. I can't remeber the discount but it didn't seem too significant to me. I'd call anyway!
David, my family will be on the 7 Day Western Cruise Septmber 14-21 We used our points and paid cash for the rest. I know there is a fall special that runs through September. We used points that covered myself and my husband and paid cash for our 2 kids. The number of points we had to use for 2 adults was 354 and the total cah was 1333.00 for the kids. We are Category 6 Deluxe outside stateroom with a Verandah.
I am not sure how many points we "saved" but when I was looking at prices for that time of year for the 4 of us I believe it was near 5000.00. To me that is a savings. Yeah I realize we pay per month for those points but it's alot easier to do that than pay out all that money at once.
I can't wait to go I am so excited now, can't imagine how bad I will be as the time gets closer....I am usually looking forward to summer at this point now I am living for September.....LOL.
Good luck on booking if you decide to go and let us know what trip your taking...
We've cruised the past two years in the fall on the point discount. I inquired about this recently with MS and there doesn't appear (at least yet) to be any substantial discount as they've offered in the past. Right now they are offering a discount for September only. It's nothing drastic - like 15 points off per person with an on-board credit. It is being offered for both eastern and western. We were going to book eastern with there being such a difference in cost but when we could go western for the same points we opted that direction.
Give MS a call and see if things have changed over the past few weeks.
ON-Board Credit???? When I was making all our arrangements I didn't hear anything about that. How can I find out about it? I am also wondering if being a member of the Castaway Club does anything, do they know you are a member of it since you call the DVC to make your arrangements when you use points? Please post if you have anything on either the On-board credit of the Castaway Club info.....Thanks
The on-board credit was only for September - at least that was my understanding. MS told me they believed this was due to the DVC Anniversary cruise being sold out. So many people inquired but couldn't go as it was full. They opted to offer DVCers a discount in September and an on-board credit as a way to make up to all those who couldn't do the Anniversary cruise. If you're a DVCer paying with points and cruising in September give MS a call and ask.
