Fall break

We also started in the beginning of August, and go until May 20 something. Anyway, our fall break is October 11-20. We also have a 2 week spring break in March.

Our kids go to a private school and we started a few days earlier than the public school district our school resides in.

We do not get a fall break, but the Teachers do a convention, so we have a long weekend off in mid October- here we come Mickey! LOL

But no spring break either, never had that, the only school that did that was a boarding school I worked at.

We do have different days built into our schedule for Snow Makeup days however, so that is nice. As long as Old Man Winter cooperates and keeps that white stuff to a minimum (White Christmas Please) and no blizzards or ice storms.

So we start Aug 27 and are done June 5. Our public school started in early Sept and doesn't get out until almost mid June.

We've been going the past several years in mid Oct, and there are a few huge conventions down at WDW at the same time frame every year, and it gets more and more busy.

Ours is 10/7-10/11. Seems to be very common, so we're bracing ourselves for crowds.

When does yours fall this year? Our is usually the first week of October, but they've pushed it back to the week of 10/21. Just curious as to when everyone else has theirs and his it will be effecting crowds. I'm expecting higher than usual this year!

ours is a week later than usual.

fall break doesn't have a huge effect on crowds. it will be busy, but not crowded, just like it's been for every other fall break trip we've taken since 1999. LOL

I've heard of Jersey Week, but always thought it was because the schools were out the whole week. But two days??

Some people with younger children take their children out of school and take the whole week off. We are headed down Wed-Sun this year so my daughter will miss one day.

We live just North of Nashville, Tn. Our DD was in a STEM school that was on a balanced schedule with 2 weeks off every 9wks. This year she started regular middle school in our county and they only get 1 week at fall (Oct7-11) and I think less than that in the spring. Its better than we used to get when I was her age!
We love going this time of year! This is the first year we've not gotten to go in the fall, we usually run into a lot of kids from our county and state! Attempting Christmas break this year!

Southwest KY here and it's October 7th. We moved here from Nevada and I'd never heard of fall break. We start school early August and get out near the end of May.

I'm in Middle Tennessee (Nashville area) and our Fall Break is October 7 - 11. We are taking our kids to Disney for the first time ever that week! They are 9 and 7. =0) We are picking them up from school early on Friday, Oct. 4th and heading down....and they STILL have NO clue!!!!! .......but, I'm not excited or anything ;0)

We must be in different school districts since we only get a 2-day fall break.

Prior to this year, we'd get 2 1/2 days -- 1/2 day on the Friday AFTER Columbus Day and then that Monday and Tuesday.

This year it's only 2 days -- the Friday and Monday OF Columbus Day weekend.

I'm hoping for 2014 they go back to the other way because I really wanted to try for that time period next year.

Just out curiosity, do you get the whole week off for Thanksgiving like we do? Oh, and how exciting that you're surprising the kids! We're surprising ours this Thanksgiving.

I live in Greenwood Indiana and our schools Center Grove just went to the balanced calendar this year and we get two weeks from from Oct 12 thru the 27th

Had to comment because we're in Center Grove too! We're leaving 10/13, heading down to Tampa for a couple days, and doing Disney 10/17-23. We have to be back for soccer that last weekend. Can't wait!!

In San Antonio, TX - no fall break but we get the whole week of Thanksgiving off. We start school Aug. 26 and get out June 6. Two weeks off at Christmas and a week at Spring Break (March 10-14)

We have a week off 10/7-11. But I think we are the only school in Atlanta that has that week off.

Several countries in metro Atlanta have that same week off. Here in Henry, we use to have the 7th week of school off. It was like that for at least 8 years and then they changed it to later in September last year but because if the High School writing test being that week they changed it this year to the same week that in seem everyone is the south has. Everyone is complaining about it being so late and the Break is interfering with matching band competitions being the weekend that the break starts. I hope that they move it back to where it was. Why are they always messing with stuff that is isn't broken!
