Fall AP discounts are WORSE than the GP discounts!

I think if you are buying a AP mostly for the discounts that you are setting yourself up to be disappointed. Only buy them if you plan on going to the parks a lot, not because you are hoping to get room discounts. Disney has never advertised APs as a great way to save money.

Fair enough, and I think most people know that. It doesn't change the fact that even it wasn't the advertised reason, people were still able to get excellent room discounts with their AP's for years. I can understand the disappointment when something you've grown accustomed to changes. One thing is obvious is that when Disney said they were reducing discounts.. they have targeted the AP rates specifically.
The AP's we bought this year nudged us into booking a third trip. If I didn't have them, I would stick to 2 in a 12 month time and be done with it. I am not angry by any means, just realizing that for my money room and package discounts are the better way to go.

I've had my AP for quite a few years & the initial reason was because we were going more than once that year. However, when you look at the "benefits", room discounts are certainly mentioned. No, you're not guaranteed a "great" discount, but it would be appreciated if the AP rates would be issued before ANY other discounts! Disney should recognize the APs by at least giving a small advantage of extra time to book trips before making other discounts public. Make sense? :confused3

Maybe that was true before, but now when you look at the Disney web-site, room discounts are not mentioned. Dining, merchandise, and recreation discounts are mentioned, but not room discounts.

I do agree thought that it would be nice if Disney is going to do discounts that they would give AP passholders first dibs.

I was able to book 2 nights at ASMo with an AP discount at 20% off opposed to the GP 15%. It saved me about $15  I think Disney assumes that AP holders will visit no matter what the discount. This also applies to us DVC members. We sometimes want to book a cash reservation, but I can NEVER get a pincode. Disney knows I'll be back to spend my money so why waste discounts on us. :sad2:

Why oh why did they leave out the 15th and 16th of August?? That last set of AP rates went through the 14th and this new set starts on the 17th. I, of course, am checking in on the 16th. So if I wanted to save this whopping $50 over what I got with the GP rate, I would have to make two separate reseravtions - one for the 16th and one starting on the 17th, which is especially not easy at CBR because the custom's house is so freaking far away and I do NOT want to have to go back there to check-out and check back in! GRRRR!!

I am in the same boat. Why would they leave out those 2 days in the middle of the week? Planning a mother/daughter trip before school starts back from Aug. 15-20th. I will need to make 2 separate reservations if I want to save the extra money on the last 3 nights that the AP discount provides. We were looking at doing BC or YC. We would usually do the dining plan too with the AP rate, but we can't with the GP discount. Maybe we should just try off-site.
