Fall 2018 discounts better than they were for fall 2017?

not sure if anyone remembers the terrible discount Disney gave for the fall. Most rooms were blocked out unless you wanted to pay a ton for the expensive rooms. And I called 1 hour after discount came out that morning.
How were they this year?
Thinking about booking end of September 2019 and wouldn’t mind free dining or room discount.

With so many rooms either being refurbished or out of commission due to construction, this year's availability was actually worse than last year. The offers were similar to previous years (i.e. *free* dining with minimum ticket purchase and rack rates for rooms) and 10%-25% off rack rates for room-only reservations. But as in 2017, there was a lot of complaining that people could not get their preferred resort for their vacation dates.

ahh that's too bad. I am booking WL tomorrow for 3 week in September 2019 and praying that I can change that to a discounted room/package once they come out

Booking in advance can work against you because if Disney has a lot of rooms booked at the rack rate, they have no reason to offer a discount. However, for a 3-weeks stay I can see wanting to book early if you're willing to pay the rack rate should you not be able to get a discount.

Usually when I already have a room I will call and ask for the discount to be added and if they so no I have been able to ask to book another room and just cancel that first one. The only time I didn't get a discount was when I waited until 7 months before to book when the discount came out so I'll never wait again! I'd rather at least have the resort I want booked.

I think you missed the point. Disney offers discounts to fill empty rooms. If you have a room booked already (and it seems more and more people are booking in anticipation of a discount), then Disney has fewer empty rooms. That means fewer rooms they need to fill, so they offer worse discounts on even fewer rooms. That’s why it works against you and everybody else.

Right. That totally makes sense. Guess all those other years before major renovations fewer people were going so I was able to get the discounts. Regardless on a discount or not, we will still be traveling fall 2019 so booking it no matter what. Not taking the chance and waiting. I’m assuming from what you said there probably won’t be many discounts at that time with anticipation of GE unless an exact release date comes out beforehand

Meant to say 3rd week. Only staying for a week.
