Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

Ok guys, we just splurged for our first Memory Maker! Any tips? Anybody have this before and have a great or a bad experience? I basically want to hear whatever you guys think, since I now depend on you for all the info! Our girls are 2&6 and this will be the first trip for our youngest and he first trip she remembers for our oldest! I am pretty excited to see what the CMs do for magic shots and whatnot!

We didn't use ours enough last year. This year we are still going to buy it but I'm going to make a point to stop more. The reason we didn't stop last year was because if our daughter (22 months old) was in the stroller I didn't want to get her out because getting her back in was a challenge. She preferred to walk but we wanted her in the stroller so if she was in it the only thing we wanted to take her out for was a ride or food :)

So, now with our vegan, we went through menus together to see where she would like to eat.

I am now going to try to get TH for a late breakfast. The boys will like it and a good portion of the buffet is vegan, which means no egg. Since she has an egg allergy, this should be a great choice. If we try to get the latest breakfast slot possible, will they politely ask us to leave, if lunch starts coming out?

Hollywood and Dine holiday dinner, for Fantasmic. A friend of hers also has a bad egg allergy, and they offered to make her a few things and a dessert without egg. So she would like to eat here. I would like to do the fantastic package with this reservation. So my fingers are crossed!

Captains Grill, as they have an option that can be modified.

Teppen Edo, although it's not her favorite, but she can get the vegetable meal. We will do this for the Candlelight Processional I hope.

BOG lunch, substituting the onion soup for the cupcake. We may try to schedule this twice.

Wolfgang Puck Express, she doesn't mind pizza without cheese and there are a couple salads also.

Whispering Canyon Cafe as they have a skillet for non meat eaters. Not too excited by this one.

Coral reef as they have a gardiene entree, but the boys really want to eat here also!!!

Columbia Harbour House. Lighthouse sandwich, Yummy!!

So that's 5 plus the Candlelight Processional. I need two more lol.

How about Garden Grill? I've never eaten there but I imagine they would have good choices for your friend! I loved Tusker House breakfast, by the way :)

I don't know for sure, but I read on the DIS last year, that at TH if you are still there when they switch over to lunch you can enjoy lunch as well.:)

Indeed, this is what we did. We actually didn't get much time with just the breakfast food before they started the transition. I think our reservation was something like 10:35 and it seemed like they were putting lunch stuff out by 10:45 or so. Next time, if we do breakfast, I want to plan to eat around 10:20 so we get more time with breakfast.

glad I saw this. I make my ADRs next Monday and hope to get TH breakfast but my family is only likely to eat the breakfast foods so I will try for 10:15-10:20'ish.

They do move some of the breakfast offerings to the middle of the buffet room and leave them there until at least 11, but it seemed like pretty slim pickings by then if you didn't want the lunch stuff.

Thank you. That is one we discussed, but didn't appeal to her, but I appreciate the suggestion!

Thank you! I love breakfast, the boys love Mickey waffles, but I think lunch will have more choices for our vegan and the other member was against breakfast, but wants lunch lol. So this seems like a simple solution even though we're not big eaters, it will meet everyone's needs!

That's a great point! I may do that, simply for the time it would take to be seated, order drinks and if any characters are nearby. It would let us still choose from breakfast items! Thank you!

Does anyone know what's happening with Hoop Dee Doo this fall? It seems that the 6:15 show isn't available at all for most fall dates. According to CMs, it's not sold out, just not available to book, but they don't know why. I have a 4pm ADR for 11/11 as a backup, but I'm really hoping the 6:15 time opens back up. Insight anyone?

Fantasmic dining packages are not available for November either right now. We were making guesses on the November thread and the thought was maybe they are waiting until November hours are finalized.

I thought the same for Fantasmic. But the Hoop Dee Doo issue starts in September....

So I've seen where people are saying ADRs can be booked 180+10. Does that mean I can book my ADRs 190 days in advance?

No, it means that if you are an onsite guest you can start booking your ADRs 180 days from your checkin date through the rest of your trip up to 10 days. If your stay is longer than 10 days you will book each day after 10 individually.

Thank you! Now that makes more sense :-)

I thought it was just me! I have not called but couldn't get the 6:15 for anytime in the beginning of September. Is the 4 o'clock show not popular and they are trying to fill it up first? If someone gets opening for the 6 o'clock one let me know please!

I can't wait. Got our ADR's done, bought our spooky tickets. Getting clothes ready, now just need to do fast passed and have hours updated for Sept. Anybody know when the hours will be updated with the night time things going on at AK?

We do this with TH and H&V every year. We book 10:45 and get both. I like lunch but my DH likes breakfast so I just wait.

I didn't think it was worth it two years ago. We just didn't take the time to stop. This past fall, we really just decided to take the time to stop at all of them we saw and were much happier with it. They really capture a lot of shots that you don't even realize or would think to take yourself. Some of my favorite pictures are the ones that we didn't even realize they were taking. plus, I was actually in them this year. Every year I only make it into a few pics, and my dad is the same. So to have them with everyone in the pic was really nice. For basically a first trip fr both of them, they will LOVE the magic shots. Just make sure to ask for them. Most will do them automatically, but some don't unless you ask. You won't regret it unless you do like I did the first time and don't take the time to stop.
