Does anyone know when they post internships starting summer 09?

I did the CP back in spring 06. I graduate next may and I can't wait to go back.

Anyone else graduating in May?

I'm also interested in this info. I was supposed to graduate last May but I had to stop school for awhile to take care of an ill family member. I'm working full time now so I won't be graduating until May09 probably.

Me! I finally will be graduating (I was supposed to graduate last May, but due to doing 2 regular CPs I was a semester behind, and ended up pushing it back another semester). I can't wait to be done!!!

I am graduating in May too hopefully and I am hoping to do a PI. It is the only thing I want to do right now and don't have any alternative plans at this moment.

I don't know how often you check up on this disboards.com but I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm chad and I'm a fine art photography student from cincinnati, ohio. I used to work for ritz camera in cincinnati and I am now currently a technical photographer intern for disney up until january 2009. I know you were interested in an internship with disney with the same type of field that I'm in. Well I also would like an internship with disney that deals with the creative side of photography. My role is somewhat like that i photograph industrial equipment for maintenance manuals. Sometimes I document the figures that are in the attractions for show documentation. We also do various other projects for other departments. We work with WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) occasionally. It just depends on what the project is. Just this last week (considering Pleasure Island is shutting down) I documented all the clubs inside and out. How amazing is that?! haha I think my role is cool i enjoy coming in everyday not knowing whats going to happen next because each project is surprising. I'm always up for a new task! Anyways i don't want you to think i'm bragging about it but i just wanted to share with you what I'm doing. Its unusual to have us BFA students work for disney. I haven't met anyone who is working towards a BFA degree. There are plenty of opportunities with disney that deal with photography! That goes for internships, full time, part time. Sometimes they might not be located in florida but I think its great to be working for disney regardless of what the location is! Once I finish this internship I'm heading back to school to finish my senior thesis. Then I am wanting to apply for some internships for summer 09. Anyways i know that you said you are an assistant manager at cord camera its weird because i worked at ritz and we were always going against you guys! Well maybe we'll chat soon its nice to know there is someone who is as interested in photography as i am thats on here!

Thanks for the information! I was wondering what all was available for BFA photo students. I often wonder "what was I thinking... what will I do with a BFA photography degree" but I feel that somehow Disney will have something unique to offer me someday... even if it's not what I ultimately end up doing... I hope I get a chance to do something similar to what you're experiencing now. It's just all part of the scheme of things. For now though, I just need to get finished with school. I've been going since Januray of 2004 which feels like FOREVER!!!

Well my interests are obvious from previous posts... but photography or art related. What about you?

Not really. Now that I've met with advisers at school I'm wondering if I should just try to get a job with Disney instead of an internship? Who knows?

I have heard that it is easier to go through the PI to get hired but that could totally be a rumor. good luck with your decision. if you dont minde me asking what did your advisor say to sway your decision?

I can't remember his exact wording. I'm thinking he was assuming it was a simple internship and it wouldn't apply toward anything for my degree since I'll already have it and I wouldn't get paid a lot for the work. He doesn't know a lot about the Disney programs though.... and I don't know much more.

Hi everyone. I am also interested in a marketing related internship. I can't wait til the positions are posted and I can apply. I left Disney in fall 06 after my CP and i've been dying to go back. Just a few more months until its our time to apply. Good luck everyone!!!

It's true that it's easier to get hired *period* if you've already been hired. Disney prefers to hire people who've already worked for them which is why people try like all snot to get into the company. Because once you're in, your opportunity to advance in the company becomes WAY easier!

With all that said, if I get accepted for a Spring 09 PI, I'm going to re-apply for a specific PI that I wanted to do that I got shot down for this time around. If I do get it, I'm going to keep renewing until there's a FT position open. If I don't get it, then I'll go FT in the PI I'm already in, and then finish my last year of college in my free time.

Does anyone know what the chances are of being offered a full time job after your PI ends? I really am hoping to get a PI for the fall and if I was offered a FT position afterwards I would really consider it, otherwise I am probably going to return to my college I am at now and get my master's degree.
