Anyone know of a really good self-tanner? I can't go to Disney ghostly white!!! :cool1:

Also, do you have a sunscreen that you recommend? Sadly, we are a very pale family. I'm afraid that my boys are going to get blisters. I'm especially looking for something that I can spray in their hair (they refuse to wear hats). I've used some of the liquid gel sunscreens before, but some of them make their hair really sticky. :confused3

For sunscreen I like to use the Copper tone Sport spray. It comes in both pump and aerosol cans and you do not have to rub it in. It's waterproof and sweat proof. My sons are 5 and 8 and they like it. I spray it on their bodies and their scalp. BTW - I do not like the sun screen sprays that have to be rubbed in - they spray a big clump out and it's the same as just using a regular bottle of sunscreen.

For their faces I use the sticks, either the Copper tone or the Waterbabies. It's like a very thick clear paste and I like it because it does not run into their eyes when they sweat. I can also apply it easily without having to rub their faces with my fingers (and risk scratching them).

I don't have recommendations for self-tanning lotion. In fact I'm in the same boat. My legs are white and we're going to WDW in less than 2 weeks! :scared1:  :teeth:

I'm pale too and burn easily. My mom always used Coppertone on me when I was younger, and that's the brand I usually still use w/high SPF and UVB (i think is what it is.)
I am going to WDW in June for my sister's wedding and vacation, and I have tried many spray-on and lotion type fake tans in the past. No matter how hard I tried to apply it perfectly I was always streaked and way too much on my elbows and knees. And from recommendations from other threads on this board, I've been using Jergens natural glow daily moisturizer designed for fair skin tones--and wow! I apply regular lotion to my knees and elbows before putting the natural glow, and if I think too much was applied I use an old wash cloth to wipe some off right away. It actually looks natural and no streaks or too much coloring in one place--I love it!!!
And after all this babbling, I hope I've helped you :)

Another :thumbsup2 for Jergens natural glow. I used both the face product and the body lotion for 2 weeks prior to our April trip. The result was a nice tan look, not at all orangy. I am still using the face lotion about 3times per week and like how it looks!

For self tanners I like Lancome Flash Bronzers... I've used a ton of different brands & these by far are my favorite.

I tried the Coppertone Sport sunscreen spray last October, and really liked the convenience of the spray. However, I found it left my skin feeling funny (not sticky, exactly, but it left an unpleasant texture on my skin, which I had to scrub off with a washcloth and soap. That stuff really lasts!).

This year, I'm going to try the new Neutrogena spray sunscreen. It has a "cooling" effect (something in it causes your skin to feel cool, which would be great if it's hot and humid!). I got mine at Costco.

I just started using the Jergens Natural Glow about a week ago on my ultra ghostly white body. I've been very impressed with the results. I'd like to try the Jergens Natural Glow Face as well but I can't find it anywhere :sad2: . Hopefully I'll find some before my body gets too tan. Has anyone tried the CVS version of Natural Glow? How did it work for you?

Another vote for Jergens, I used it all last summer because I do not tan! For the face, I used a little drop in with my normal face lotion because they didn't have Jergens for the face yet. It worked and my face was a little bit tan too. Now for the sunscreen, I found Banana Boat Quick Dry Sport sunscreen spray, SPF 30. I love it becuase it isn't sticky or oily in fact I can't even tell it's on. It dries instanly and smells good too. I spray it directly in the kids hair especially around the ears and where their hair is parted. Now for the problem, I don't know where they sell it. I bought it at the Military Commissary and no one in my family has been able to find it elsewhere, but if you can it works GREAT! Okay enough babbling  .

I also use Jergens and it's amazing - absolutely NO streaking, even around the ankles! I use the face lotion too.

The only thing I don't like is the fake-tan smell. Jergens seems less smelly than others I've tried, but that scent is still there.

Wow! I've never heard of this stuff! I can't wait to try it.
THANKS!!!

I am making myself sound very attractive...
ghostly white and sweaty

I like Coppertone Sport spray it is not grassey and easy to apply just spray and rub. It is also waterproff and does not sweatoff so ideal for Disney.

I fakebake before vacation so I have never used the sunless tanning lotions but my aunt has used Jergens Natural Glow and it seams to work well for her, she likes it and it doesn't have that orange look to it.

Another vote for Jergens... actually, for the body lotion, I got the Target off-brand version, which seems to work very well. But I did get the brand-name version face lotion which works well also, and kind of smells good. I haven't noticed any streaking or dark spots from either.

For sunscreen, I suggest coppertone. And, if you're like me and almost anything makes you break out, spend a little extra on the oil-free version - it works just as well! And don't forget a chapstick with sunscreen in it! Sunburned lips are awful =(

On a comical note, I have a friend who recently honeymooned in hawaii and forgot that ankles and feet need sunscreen... needless to say, he was hurting pretty bad afterward. And I have learned, the hard way, that upper lips and chins can get awfully sunburned in the summer in Florida... didn't smile for a week. bah.

Another vote for the Jergens - I've just started using the body lotion and I LOVE it! I haven't used the face one yet. I was waiting to see how the body lotion worked. Very easy to cover up orange legs, not so much an orange face!

My fav sunscreen by far is by Avon. It has a SPF 75, and it's blue when you put it on, so you don't miss any spots. I don't remember what it's called now, but it used to be called Total Eclipse! We're a very pasty pale family - we glow in the dark.

For the face we use Waterbabies stick. As far as the hair, all of my kids wear what my husband refers to as French Foreign Leigon hats - they have the flap on the back that covers your ears and neck.

I personally love NO AD from Walmart/or Zehrs for our friends up North-- we got their spray sport sunscreen for my red head fiancee, and their spray kiddie sunscreen for the two girls and so far is is wonderful! they also have a HUGE bottle of fake bake that does not smell like instant tanner at all..

I personally love Mystic tan spray booths. I ususally will go once before going to a warm place and get a wonderful go. the more times you go the darker you will get, but I find one time is perfect. You do have to be careful about your hands and feet, but as long as you wash them and do as they say, not bath or shower for 6 hours afterwards it goes on perfectly and with out streaks. Most places do have a info vidoe that helps you with the process and some have a wonderful paste you can put on your bottom of feet and palms that help prevent the tanner from going on there. I also put moisturizer on my elbows and knees prior to going in. It helps them only get a little bit of tanner instead of them being the darkest place!

I hope this helps sorry for the long message.

I bought this product, but have not used it yet. How do you get it on your back so that it looks natural. I can't reach back there, but I do not want to apply it and have that part still white. Any suggestions??

Is the Jergens stuff good for Sensitive Skin? I get so irritated by many scented creams....

Ditto to both of these! It's amazing how good the NO AD is considering how inexpensive it is, and it's great for every day. I mix it half and half with Olay Radiance Reviver and it darkens me up just enough each day that I develop a really natural-looking tan in a few days that lasts about a week. Be sure to exfoliate really well before applying, and take the moisturizing tips wacampbell gave. Mystic is great for before special occasions, and it takes less work (but is more expensive, obviously) than doing self-tanner at home.

I had good luck with the CVS brand of Jergens (a few cents cheaper too!) For my blonde haired blue eyed kids, I use Pre-Sun. It used to be perscription and really works great. If I cannot find that Coppertone Sport Spray is my next choice

I get my fake tan from bath and body works. good stuff, its a cream/lotion. but i really dont have any problems with it, and i dont go orange like some of the other stuff. as for getting my back, i either grab my bf or my mom and make them do it.

for sunscreen i use coppertone, nothing impressive about that. I'm not big on hats either, and i usually pull my hair back so it leaves where i part my hair pretty bare, and with that i just use my fingertip and some sunscreen and run it down the part. i've never sunburned my head but maybe i just get lucky with my technique.

oh and my face i like to use the stick. and a side note... put the contacts in before applying sunscreen

Anything but the foam stuff- it turns you ORANGE

ooor- try mystic tan- if done properly with your current skin tone, it'll look natural, and will fade slightly over time so it's not like- one day u're bronze, the next day you're a ghost- ((i work at a tanning salon- i'm not just promoting! LOL))
:wave2: :yay:
