Fake Pins?

So I've heard that fake pins are all over the place when pin trading and that you're more likely to get a fake one than a real one! So how can you tell if one is real and fake? Can the Cast Members tell/do they do anything about it? Thanks!

A castmember on the Disney Cruise told us that you tell by holding a magnet to the pin. A true Disney pin should not be attracted to the magnet. I tried it on my pin board and I have a couple of pins that were attracted to the magnet, but most were not.

Oh wow that's neat! Thanks so much I will definitely use that when I pin trade!

Well, real pins should have the copyright symbol (a c in a circle) and Disney. I've never come across any fake pins, but now I'll keep my eyes out!

OMG they have fake pins made???????? Didn't know that.

Yeah, they do. One of the pins I have I'm not sure if it's fake or real. I will edit this post after I stick a magnet to it. EDIT: It's real! Phew, now I don't have to worry anymore.
