I know someone who actually OPENED one of the attachments.
Fried her computer INSTANTLY. :(

She's a smart smart woman but she had NO idea there were fake emails being sent out like this. LOL I felt so bad for her and tried hard not to laugh when she told me she had been using McAfee, after all. Oh, but it had expired but since it still "seemed" to work she just kept using her expired version. EEK!!

REALLY I felt terrible for her. She didn't believe me when I told her I use several virus scans and 2 or 3 scanners for things like pop up ads.

My point is is how does the regular population protect their computers? How do they even really KNOW what to do? (they DON'T! LOL) I mean people who primarily use them for email and maybe surf to shop a bit? I consider myself a computer dummy but there are SO many more out there who have far far less knowledge when it comes to protecting themselves from viruses.

Actually, lately, I've wondered that myself. I know a considerable amount about these viruses and what to do and how to fix them if they do invade the computer but I also know there are people that know how to turn their machines on, get on the internet, and read (not reply or send) email. They must have someone really great looking out for them!!!!
