I know I've read it somewhere, just can't find it now.. that the predatory animals (crocs and lions) in africa (AK) are animatronics. On my trips, I couldn't tell, seem to be in the same place all the time though and not doing anything complicated.

Can someone give me a difinative answer? Thanks..

LOL!!!!

The lions and crocodiles are absolutely, definitively real.

100 times no.

the ONLY "fake" animal on the safari ride is "Little Red" found in the back of a truck. (There is a really baby elephant on the savannah...he was born last may.)

I have seen all these animals you mention moving...and have done numerous "behind the scenes" tours at AK...they even say the only 'fake' animal there is Little Red.

Either you read that yesterday (April 1st), or they were thinking about the jungle adventure in MK. Those animals are faker than a 3 dollar bill.

And can be purchased at any Wal-Mart for $4.99...well, according to the Skipper. ;)

There's a fake Thompson's gazelle at the top of a hill on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. I videotaped it for a good 30 seconds before I realized it was fake. DW always gets a kick out of it when we watch the video.

[edit-replaced impala with Thompson's gazelle]

I do seem to remember reading the animals on the JC at the MK are fake but they always look so real to me. If they are fake this is going to ruin the whole ride for me!

All of the dinosaurs are fake.
 :rotfl:

I used to wonder if the Lion was fake but after numerouse trips I have seen him in different areas doing different trips. :p

I think not.

All I can picture is Kevin Kline in 'Fierce Creatures' riding the Panda bear, LOL!

One time on the safari ride I used my camera to get a really close up shot of the lion up there on pride rock. Now I can't be quite sure.......but......... it sure does look like there's a little hatch there on the leg and it looks like it says "4 D cells required.:rotfl:

The ostrich eggs are fake. I've been waiting for them to hatch for at least four years now.

Absolutely, and positively, every single animal INSIDE the Harambe Wildlife Reserve is real!!
(Little Red is OUTSIDE the reserve)

Ummm...no, no fake Thompson's Gazelle in Pangani

The ostrich eggs are real, as well. They may not necessarily be 'fertile' eggs, however they are, indeed, real :)

The fake one is on the right with the antlers.

A tad difficult to tell real or fake, with the shadowing in the photo and all, however a male tommie has long horns like that...the females and short little stubby horns. I can think of no reason whatsoever for there to be a fake tommie in the forest when they certainly have plenty of live specimens to go around, as well as the pride they take in the care and study of all the animals.

There is currently only one male tommie on the Safari as well.

Going to print the photo and take it to work for confirmation, I hope you don't mind :)

We were at the grand opening for the AK back in April of 1998. At that time there was no doubt in my mind that the lion was a fake.

Since then we have made numerous trips and have seen him in different places and moving.
