I guess this is as good a place as any to post this.

If you haven't heard of this, check out Mary Waring's site
www.mousesavers.com

What they are offering as of today 5/6/03 to Disney Club members is a seven night package for the price of four nights!
You have to stay sometime between July and October.

I suppose offering this to Disney Club members first is a good way to end that program

I hope they offer this to the general public or Disney credit card holders soon and that they extend it to Nov and Early-mid December.
I bet they will and that they sell out alot of resorts.

This package became available to DC members today. I believe it opens to the general public on the 11th. It will be the same package, DC members just get an additional $50 discount and some other freebies (pins and such). Seems like a good deal if you need a package. It provides better than AP holder resort rates combined with a sizeable discount on passes. Once again, the DVC owning, AP holding loyal guest is left out in the cold. Hmmm......maybe I'll rent out my points/WL reservation and skip renewing my AP if this program is extended into December............

Well, well - very interesting!

It's certainly clear which side of the "should Disney discount their resort rooms or not debate" WDW management is on...

According to Mary:

I really think Disney may sell out the majority of its resort rooms for 7/4/03-10/30/03 because of the Fairytale Vacation offer.

In fact - not only are the rooms being discounted, but the Unlimited Magic Passes are being discounted also - that's a first.

From a corporate standpoint it's also an interesting gamble. Since these packages will be booked by the Disney Travel Co. rather than through CRO they will have to be paid for right away.

So basically Disney resorts will see a jump in revenue this quarter - and a probable decline in revenue next quarter.

When did Disney Travel Co. start requiring payment up front?

I haven't booked with them since late 2000, so I might be out of the loop, but at that time it was the standard 1 night down and the rest two weeks before the dates.

Mousesavers says:

You must book by 6/29/03. Proof of Disney Club membership required at time of reservation and check-in. Terms: pay $100 deposit within 14 days of making reservation; payment in full required 21 days prior to check-in; cancel without penalty up until 5 days prior to check-in.

I believe WDTC requires payment at 45 days out. The terms listed by TeenaS are only for Disney Club packages. They are less restrictive than those for the general public booking WDTC packages.

It was a temptation until I read it uncluded park passes. ;)
Well, I'm glad. I need to spend the money at home! ;)
