Thinking about going to DL in either the beginning of February or the end of May (weekend right before Memorial Day, I'd avoid the holiday weekend!) It'd be just my boyfriend and I, no kids. Looking at a most likely Thurs-Mon stay.

I just started looking at hotels and we're looking at possibly the Fairfield and I'd love some feedback. I travel a lot for work and between now and then I might have enough for two free nights with Marriott points, at least one night. I know a lot of people on the DIS stay at the HoJo, and it looks like the Fairfield is right next door, so I would think it would be just as convenient.

Thoughts?

There were actually a couple of threads on the Fairfield recently, if I had time I'd link them for you, but you can try a search.

Anyway, I love the Fairfield. We stayed there 4 years ago and had a very nice time. Rooms were clean and comfy, and it is closer to DLR than the HoJo. Dh stayed there on a business trip last year and had the same great experience. We are staying there again this summer. :)

The Fairfield is great! And they even have the same pillows as the full service Marriotts! :cloud9: I think the HoJo is preferred simply because of the fabulous rates they offer with the Entertainment card, you just can't beat their deals!

However, it's possible to find decent rates at the Fairfield. I often see $99 rates.

As a fellow Elite member, I do want to say that in my opinion, using rewards points at this particular hotel is a waste, as they have it listed as a category 5 or 6, due to the location. I'm much rather use my points to stay at a TRUE higher category hotel, like when we stayed at the Marriott Beachside hotel in Key West! It was a $300 a night room, vs the Fairfield, which I would say averages $125. Just something to think about.

That's a good point Oscarkitty. They have it listed as a Cat 5, so 25,000 points per night. Honestly, not as high as I was expecting :) But the room rate is currently $159/night for the nights I'm looking at...which are also months away, so I know they'll more than likely come down. If it's $99/night, we'll probably pay it and save the points. In the meantime I'll start staying at Marriott chains instead of my usual Hamptons and see if I can bump myself up to Gold status with all the promos they're running! Then I can get that free upgrade ;)

Here's one thread link I found:

I agree with those above who say the Fairfield is a good choice. But i also agree with those who state that it ISN'T the best choice to use your Marriot points. (& said as much in the above link).

With just the two of you, I'd add the Candy Cane Inn to your short list. You don't need the fancy kiddie pool or the larger rooms that HOJO offers....but the free breakfast & dedicated shuttle that the CCI offers sure comes in handy. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the opinions and linking to that. I appreciate it. I'll watch the Marriott site as I think the closer it gets the better deal I'll get.

DH and I have stayed at both the Anaheim Marriott the Fairfield Inn, and I would say that the Anaheim Marriott is a much nicer hotel, but I prefer the location of the Fairfield Inn. Anaheim Marriott requires a bus ride, while the Fairfield in is walkable. Plus there is the chance of a room with a park view(you can sometimes see TOT, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, etc.) at the Fairfield Inn. The rooms at the Anaheim Marriott and the pool are much nicer, though.

Hope this helps!
