Which of these 2 is closer to the park entrances? I know courtyard is new and has great pool but is the Fairfield inn okay?

They're pretty much the same distance; about 0.5 miles from the main entrance (center of Esplanade). The Fairfield Inn, when I stayed there, was fine. It was nothing fancy or special, but the room was acceptable and the location was pretty good. (The towels were really thin and scratchy, but that was the only "real" complaint.)

Both are the same distance to the parks. They're right next to each other.

As for which is better, Courtyard is newer and has some pretty cool looking waterslides. But it looks like it's usually $100+/night. I guess it depends on what you're looking for and what you'll spend.

As GatorChris mentioned, the Courtyard is more expensive than the Fairfield. This is part to do with the water park/play area and because the Courtyard is a hotel (it has interior corridors, bell services, valet parking, etc.) whereas the Fairfield is closer to a motel (exterior corridors, no bell services or valet). Neither include breakfast in their room rates and both charge for parking. If budget was not an issue, I would stay at the Courtyard over the Fairfield. I stayed at the Courtyard once and and the rooms were very nice (and it was new, so everything still looked new) and it was pretty quiet. The water park/play area was a lot of fun for the kids, but there really isn't any place to swim laps.
