Hi I am wondering if anyone has any info about this resort. I am wondering how much construction is going on there and how far along it is. We are considering it for summer 0f 2006 and I was wondering if there is a lot to do or if it is still too early in the building phase to stay here. Any info anyone can supply would be greatly appreciated. :earsboy:

I can't give you a lot of information that you probably don't already have. It is open, Dis members have reported staying there. It is surrounded by Disney property on three sides and I-4 on the other. You might check Fairfields website for additional information.

Construction is progressing, traveling counter-clockwise around the lake, if you were looking down with a bird's eye view. The activity building would be at about "10:00" and the high rise condo Building 1 would be at "8:00." Those are completed and occupied.

The exterior is finished on the high rise Bldg 2 at "6:00" so there should be little if any impact on guests staying in the activity building or in Bldg 1. Construction has already started on Bldg 3 at "5:00" but this is some distance from the occupied buildings. Bldg 2 (and possibly Bldg 3?) will be occupied by next summer.

Bldg 4 will be located at "1:00," next to the activity center, working around clockwise, whenever they get around to starting that.

I've read that they start construction around 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. and quit at supper time. So whatever noise there is, will only bother those who sleep in or nap mid afternoon with the windows open. But unless you have a room on the end directly next to heavy exterior construction, the noise is not noticeable. We visited during the daytime and did NOT notice any noise or distraction from across the lake, when walking around the recreation center pools, nor when touring the model units nearest the construction. HTH!

BTW, it's beautiful. We'd stay in a heartbeat!!! Enjoy! :goodvibes

Lisa P. Thanks so much for all the information!! We were a little hesitant about trying to stay here because we did not know how extensive the construction was or if there would be anything to do. The few pictures I have seen look Fabulous!! Thanks again. :flower:

This is just my opinion. I just wanted to preface this! :earboy2: I would never give a cent to the Fairfield Resorts. If anyone really knew how they treated their potential customers, you would probably think the same.

Back in the Spring of 2003, I went to San Antonio, TX on business. On one of my off days, my DW and I were walking in downtown San Antonio. A guy came out and asked if we would be interested in getting free tickets to some of the attractions. He said all we would have to do is sit through a timeshare presentation. We had the time, so we did it.

The resorts are very appealing and desireable, and we were honestly considering it. Then it came down to the subject of the cost. We still hadn't completely thrown out the idea, we were just really thinking about it. When they started to see us think, they brought over a supervisor that pressured us for over 30 minutes. He said some things that really offended me. For example, he kept saying, "Imagine how much you are going to get from your wife for signing up for this." He also said, "Your wife will thank you later if you get this." Stuff like this was completely inappropriate in my opinion.

Thank goodness we didn't buy into the Fairfield, because about 3 months later we bought into DVC, with NO PRESSURE at all. Our advisor, Carol Ann, actually gave me her own personal calculator to take back to our resort and play around with numbers.

Just my own opinion, but I thought everyone was intitled to knowing how the Fairfield Resorts treat their potential owners. Just a warning! :earsboy:

This experience isn't unique to Fairfield, I've experienced similar pressure/inappropriate comments from timeshare sales people from other companies as well. (I haven't had any dealings with DVC, but I've heard great things about their sales people.)

Fairfield, Westgate and a few others have quite a reputation of "HIGH" pressure sales. I would consider staying here, but NOT on a timeshare sale deal only if they just rented the condos.

I have done DVC (bought later via resale) and Marriott (really liked, but didn't buy). Both of those were fine. Marriott even gave me LOTS of free gifts!

Whithouston, it's a shame you had such a poor experience at the TX location. Some salespeople in the timeshare industry are low class sharks, as I suppose you could say of nearly any industry. Unfortunately, your experience was not unique. We had a similarly poor experience at Wyndham Palms and our sales tour at Westgate was horrific. But most of our sales tours have been quite mild, including all the ones we've attended at Fairfield resorts.

We bought our first timeshare in 1997 and we've owned with DVC, Marriott, Fairfield and other independent resorts. Our Fairfield has been our favorite, by a landslide (we bought it on resale, huge savings!) and they've treated us very, very well on every vacation, several per year.

If I had had one bad experience with a hotel manager or sales supervisor (ex., at a Marriott), I would indeed be very cautious about staying there again. So I can understand your warning to the OP. But I wouldn't rule out giving any of my business to the company altogether. (I've even stayed at a Westgate, though I wouldn't buy there.) Fairfield has over 70 resorts and over 500,000 owner families. They employ over 9,000 people. IMHO, you just got stuck with one/some of the sharks. :(

Fairfield has it's fair number of sharks....I had a friend who was verbally abused by a salesperson who called her fat and lazy and said "If you worked, then you and your husband could afford this -just get a job". She complianed to the corporate office and was told "He is just doing his job!"
