I'd like to start a thread where we can share the insane things our "friends" on Facebook post.

"T*** got her first social security check today. Now we can go shopping!"

T is 3 and was recently diagnosed with mild autism.

Mom and Dad are not terribly ambitious.

That is all... :)

I knew you would understand!

I have a relative whose posts read like Christmas newsletters on steroids. BRAGALICIOUS! Which would be fine, if they weren't such works of fiction. :rotfl2: DSis calls, reads them to me and we "translate" them into reality. She posts things about her kids that are so over the top. I feel bad for the kids. I think what they ACTUALLY DO and achieve is quite enough to brag about, but when you fancy it all up and make it 100 times bigger and bolder than it really is, the message it sends to the kid is that what they really did accomplish is just not good enough. Just the facts, ma'am!

My sister airs her dirty laundry on FB all the time. The latest was how her new boyfriend hit her but she forgave him when he took her shoe shopping and out to dinner at Olive Garden. Now, I know it's my sister and all and we are very concerned about her, but who puts that kind of stuff out there for all to see!

I have a friend that posts pictures of her 2 year old son potty training on a kiddy potty in her living room. She captions it with 'whatever works, lol'. Gross. Just as irritating - she always gets 'likes' from other mommy friends of hers. I never have the nerve to write how gross and TMI I think it is, though.

Because, you know, Olive Garden makes it all better. :confused3

I love when people are hurting for money and say one thing, then two days later, they're hanging out at the casino.

Another poster I particularly "enjoy" makes sure to post every time she works out. I guess you burn more calories if others know about it.

:rotfl2:

Not that there's anything "wrong" with this, but I have one FB friend whose posts consist entirely of inspirational messages(no, not necessarily religious, just life affirmation type stuff). If I wanted inspiration I'd buy a pretty poster for my office, I signed up to be your FB friend to hear about your life.

Maybe they were hurting for money to take the casino?

I adore my mother in law, but she does the same thing. Maybe we should let them friend each other so they will have more people who appreciate the inspiration?

:thumbsup2

I have TWO of those! I usually post back that I'm still in my jammies or chowing down on some McDonald's.

Inspiration stuff doesn't bother me, but when somebody crams their religion down my throat, I un-friend them. :thumbsup2

Ok, this is SO petty, but one friend of mine posts things every single day like, "Smile! You can do it! You just might make someone's day brighter."
That's such a positive, affirming message, right? Yet I wish so badly I had the courage to write underneath, "Stop telling me what to do!!"

Once in a while would be fine, but every single day get tiresome and seems fake. Plus she'll do those sideways smiley faces and nothing else.

:)

Every day!!

Re-reading this, I sound like the crabbiest person in the world. LOL!

One of my friends complains in real ilfe about her DS18... he's flunking 2 required classes, and skipping most of the others...may not graduate...quit his job, doesnt come home most weekend nights... Then on Facebook she posts photos of his Senior Prom...complete with tux, limo, fancy restaurant, etc.... Rewarding bad behavior in my opinion.

A little back story, my parents are both in their 80's. Dad has alzheimers, mom has her own health issues. I have a brother and a sister and we all help out. Some more than others. My sister posted about feeling like an only child, she can't do everything...etc. She even had people responding to her with things like "I know how you feel. My siblings never did anything"..The thing is she is the one that does the least. When I responded to her post, she blocked and unfriended my daughter, my husband and myself. Who knows what she is posting now...:)

I have a "friend" that does that too. He also always posts what he's making for dinner or what he's eating and will sometimes post if he took a dump. Oh and showering...he will post he's going to take a shower or that he just had one.

My SIL openly posted several acronyms on my cousin's husband's facebook page. Guess she didn't think we were smart enough to figure out what they meant! I simply went to an acronym site and typed them in and they surpisingly revealed very provocative, xrated thoughts and feelings! All of our family members are FB friends with both of them, so anyone could have read the post. Even worse was that my cousin's husband decoded the message right there on FB for ALL to see! My SIL just replied LOL to his response. She defriended all family members a week later.

The cryptic message!!!!!!! Drives me insane & my SIL does it all the time.

She continually posts things like, "My poor baby.....spent the evening at the ER, but he was such a trooper. The nurses loved him!" Of course, a million people comment with, "Oh, what's the matter", "Hope he's OK", "Poor baby, what's wrong", "Saying prayers", blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!

As usual, she never comes back to respond. Someone called her out on it once & she did the they, "Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't update." Yeah, whatever........stop looking for attention!

I do that, but in my defense, the app on my phone does it for me automatically. I like it though be size it kind of holds my accountable so I do my walks.
I have one friend who is a truck driver and you know when he waiting in the yard because there will be post after post with just the name of whatever song he is listening to.

Oh, Facebook. I had to de-friend my aunt. She is very much an attention seeker. Most of her family and friends live in IL and she lives in FL. She would post stuff about her kids being sick with things like pneumonia. Well, she lives with my grandparents. So I would call to talk to grandma and say "How is D? I heard he has pneumonia?" Oh, no, he's fine not sick at all!!! Who lies about their kid being sick for attention!

Another time I had to call her out because she was posting asking where to get cheep kids clothes at back-to-school time. They we're so broke.... We'll sorry, I had to bring up the new tattoos her and my uncle got 3 or 4 months before that. She was pretty upset at me that time. Nothing wrong with tattoos, I have a few. But I don't have kids to feed and clothe!

Oh, I do have the C25K app and post my progress. It does help me stay accountable and a few other friends are doing it right now so it is nice to talk about. But I do have friends who post every time they go to the gym and everything they do there. lol That is too much for me.
