Facebook question

I hope I can explain this well enough for someone to give me a good answer...


DD says she can see people's FB pages enough though they have their account set to private. Understand there are different levels of privacy. We are not friends on FB, but she contantly tells (brags) that she knows my status. She is in college and still thinks life is all about her, doesn't want to be friends with her parents, but wants it as a one way street. We can't know what is going on in her life, but wants to know what is going on in our's. Beside blocking her, how can I set my account so she can't see it, or how is she seeing my account (and dad's and DBs)?

Pretty sure all my account is as private as it can get, but maybe not.

Is she friends with someone whose account she can use? Because then she can log on as that friend and see whatever you have allowed them to see. No way around that.

Does she really know what you wrote? Or is she just telling you that she knows, without actually confirming the information with you?

I've never been able to see other people's status unless I'm friends with them, so I'm not sure she's being truthful. I'm sure someone more tech-savvy than me can give you more information.

If you have it something set to Friends of Friends, and you have mutual friends, then she can see whatever you did that had a that setting (such as posts).

I have mine all set to either Friends Only or Nobody(me only).

No she has been able to tell me specific things. I did just notice something was set friend of friend but I don't remember what it was and I changed it.

Have either of you ever sent a friend request to the other and never responded to it? Sometimes while the request is pending, the persons status can come up in your newsfeed.

Maybe I wasn't clear. Is she a real-life friend of anyone else that you have as a Facebook friend? Would that Facebook friend allow her to log in as them (tell her their login and password) or to otherwise use their account? If so, she will be able to see anything you have allowed that other Facebook friend to see.

go to account and then privacy settings

she shouldn't be able to see your status if you have it set to Friends Only

NOTHING on the internet is private ever again-thats just how it works. Most of Facebooks privacy settings can be bypassed by someone of sufficent knowledge or technical skill. Somethings can be access through others accounts-others-the security just doesnt work as advertised.
