okay, i need help. i love pics and take a lot. when i post albums to facebook i do not tag my friends in the pics (other than sometimes dd or dh and bil to annoy him, but that's beside the point), i have a friend on fb that occassionally will tag herself (not in the pic), her kids (nope, they weren't there either) or her grandkids (you guessed it, they weren't there either).. my question is... how do i tactfully un tag them? is there a "facebook warning" i can post that says STOP TAGGING YOUR SELF IN MY PICS... and yes, that would be the easy way.. but....
so, great and mighty DIS... HELP!

and thank you!!

I always have to give permission for someone to tag themselves in my pics. I get a notification and I have to approve the tag. Since I assumed everyones was like that, it must be something with my privacy settings?? Maybe play around with your privacy or account settings and see what happens.

You could look for a way to alter it in your privacy setting..

Or, I'd just untag them. Whatever.

the only time i see that is if someone who is a friend wants to tag someone in the pic that isn't my friend.. any other ideas??

i have a cousin how I havent seen in like 10 years who does this. she kept tagging herself even in pictures of my daughter. I have my pictures set so only my friends can see them but it was still annoying that she would tag it so other people could potentially see it. I didnt try and find a nice way of telling her to knock it off though, I unfriended her :thumbsup2

You can change that in your settings.

HOW?? i've "un-checked" the box that says something to the effect that "tagged pics can't be viewed by friends of friends" but that's not making me happy...

I've done it before but I don't see how to do it now. They can never leave anything alone on FB!

"i have a friend on fb that occassionally will tag herself (not in the pic), her kids (nope, they weren't there either) or her grandkids (you guessed it, they weren't there either)"

She's doing it so she can show the pictures to those people. It comes up in their feed and they'll click to see it.

*******

Doesn't stop her from tagging, but might keep others from seeing the pictures she tags if that's an issue.

Is there an option to approve a tag before I am tagged in a photo?
While you can’t approve tags before they are created, you can control who sees tagged photos of you...
While you can’t approve tags before they are created, you can control who sees tagged photos of you:

From the Privacy Settings page, adjust the setting for "Photos and videos I'm tagged in." This limits who can see all tagged photos of you in one place.

Oh wait, maybe not.

How does tagging a friend in a photo affect the photo’s privacy setting?

When you tag a friend in a photo:

If you have the box checked next to "Let friends of people tagged in my photos and posts see them" on your Privacy Settings page, then friends of the tagged person will be able to see the photo.

If this box isn't checked, the photo’s privacy setting will not be expanded. However, the person who is tagged will be able to see the photo, regardless of the photo’s privacy setting.

Ooh ooh ooh.

How do I enable photo tagging on my Page?
You can enable the option to allow photo tagging on your Page by following these instructions:Click...
You can enable the option to allow photo tagging on your Page by following these instructions:

1. Click "Edit Page"
2. Select "Apps"
3. Select "Go to App" on the Photos App

From this page, you will be able to select to allow people who follow your Page to tag uploaded photos.

If you can *enable* tagging there, can you DISable tagging there?

well, you can call them out on it... and start a family feud.
This is what happened to my SIL. Her MIL and husband's sisters kept tagging themselves in pics of her baby - that they were not in... so it would show up on their walls. Thing is, SIL does NOT want every one in the world to see the pics of her baby, and the nature of her job makes her even more cautious.

So she told them to stop it. And they called her terrible names on fb, like really really awful. And didn't talk for 3 months. The baby is only 7mos.

Not saying telling them to knock it off is the wrong thing to do... just depends on the mental stability of the other party. Be prepared for back-lash.

I would just un-tag them. No notice or explanation needed. It is your facebook :)

You can hide albums from certain people:

Account --> Privacy Settings --> Things I Share Section, towards the bottom is a small text link "Edit Privacy Settings for existing photo albums and videos."

Under the album you want to modify select from the drop down "Customize"

There you can put any users you want to not be able to see the album.

If I couldn't adjust my privacy settings to not allow them to tag themselves, I'd just ask them not too. I'd put the blame on myself to not make them mad. I'd say something like I know I'm crazy, but can you please not tag any of my pictures until you ask me. I'm a nervous mom and worry about who is able to see pictures of my kids. Something like that lets them know not to do it, but they can't really get mad when you are putting blame on yourself instead of them.

Go to Account, then choose Privacy Settings. At the end of the list there is a check box next to the words "Let friends of people tagged in my photos and posts see them." Make sure the box is UN-checked. Then, even if she tags herself, her friends still cannot view the photos. You don't even have to tell her you did it. That would stop her friends from seeing them if she tags herself, but still won't stop her from tagging whomever she wants individually to see the pics.

I don't see an option to dis-allow others to tag themselves. For that, you would either have to ask her to stop, remove the tags yourself, or set up a list of people who can see your photos and not include her.

Why would someone tag themselves in a picture they aren't in? That's weird.

I was going crazy wondering why some kids in a picture were tagged with adult's names (not even the same sex) and asked the person whose name was on it. They said that doing that was the only way they could get it on their wall or into their album or something to that effect. Seems weird to me also, to have your name on someone that isn't you.

IF she tags herself or her kids in there, it's because she wants it to show up on their wall so they see it. Wait a day or two so they can look at it, then untag them, I don't see it as a big deal.
