It is posts like this that keep me from joining Facebook.![]()
Me too! Someone was really pressuring me to join. Frankly, I think it was more about her getting affirmation that she is doing the right thing, than it is about me. I have no interest and find no value (for me) to join. What Kickapoo Joie Juice said about figuring out all the settings sound like a lot of work for me. Time, better put to more productive use for me.
I think only the young teens are concerned about the 'high friend count'.. I have quite a few friends on mine...but they are mostly family, friends, coworkers and some DISers- No 'strangers'....
No, it's not just teens. I get email requests all the time from people I don't know. Adults too, want the significance of having a lot of friends. fans, peers on their lists. It's their way of saying, "Look at me, at how important I've become."

I accept almost every friend request and I'm so glad I do! Usually I'll keep them on there a couple of days to see if there is some sort of connection, and then if there isn't, I restrict my information. It's also not that I want a ton of friends, but I play Mafia Wars and you need a lot of people to be successful at it.
Are you able to open two accounts? I'd have one just to play the games and a different one for personal real friends, if possible. I have several Gmail accounts. I use them for different things. It's like being able to sort and organize online effectively without needing to manually go in and sort people, stores, organizations & private correspondence out.
