I work in our Community Library and we always have storytimes and activities on for the children during the school holidays. Today we're doing face-painting - and I really don't feel like doing it!

Am I turning into a Grumpy Old Woman? ;) (or have I already been one for quite some time LOL?)

Think of me having fun this morning...

...as they can't see what you're doing you could paint them all with moustaches...

Well, I had a bit of a lucky escape and managed to get away without lifting a paintbrush! :cool1:

30 children turned up, but we were so busy with the other ordinary library 'stuff' as well that I was stuck dealing with that and didn't get a chance to help out with the children ;)

There are only two of us working together and my colleague always tells the stories, so she ended up carrying on and doing the face-painting too, helped along by three or four of the mums who were there.

Phew ;)

I thought I was the only person who felt like this, but speaking as a mum not a librarian :teeth:

They get all disgustingly covered with make up which I can never get properly off their faces for days - not to mention the stained clothes I've had to throw away!!

Blimey Hilary if you think you're a GOW what the heck does that make me? I should be grateful there's anyone willing to paint my kids :teeth:

I must be the GOW grand master - I've never let my kids have their faces painted (they're 11 and 14 now). I started off by using DS eczema as an excuse, but to be honest I just didn't like the idea at all.

Aw, but they do look so cute when they are done up like little lions or dinosaurs or whatever, don't they!

Or is that just the illusion they give out to people who haven't had kids yet, and then once I have had kids they will look like little, grubby horrors!!! :rotfl2:

Yes Tink ;)

They look "nice" (depending on your definition of nice, LOL) for approximately 4 seconds until the face paints get smeared / rubbed / scratched off :teeth:

And you sit them in the car with the orders not to turn their face in case it rubs off on the upholstery and then when they get home they aren't allowed to sit on the settee! :rotfl:

LOL!
I feel much less of a GOW now I know I'm not the only one who feels like this! ;)

Just had to add a couple of these because they're so cute:
