great pictures,sounds like a brilliant day :thumbsup2

What a cool day out.

I did a Drivers experience there a few years ago - think I probably hold the track record (for the slowest ever lap!)

A solitary glass of red wine was all that was had:worried: :worried:

must have been hard to hold yourself back
Rember a few years ago and had chance to be next to a Williams F!,couldnt belive how small the car was
Paulh

You're right Paul, they are tiny. You can't really tell very well, but the shot of Gareth holding the helmet, two cars are transported (in one piece) where we were stood - basically the tyres rest on the side you can see and they slot in.

Sounds like you had a fab day Deb - excellent pictures, as usual.

Nice shots debs. How long did it take to work out the correct settings? It took me about a dozen shots last year before I got the first sensable one. Looks like you were in the same box as I was last year as well. I had an invite this year but couldn't go as I had to be at a meeting in meeting in Sandiacre. That would have been funny to bump into you at Silverstone. Matt would have thought there was something in the wine if he'd seen me walking by. :)

Matt took the picture, Tone, although I have taken them at Silverstone before. The trick is to take thousands and you might get one good one. I'm sure he'll be along to talk about settings. :)

...and as if by magic the shopkeeper appeared!

Settings weren't the problem Tone, keeping up with the cars was! Put the camera in TV and set at around 1/60.

The four action shots were taken from inside Copse, so they were coming through at a fair old lick (I guess around 150mph), so I only had a few seconds to pick 'em up - needless to say there were a lot of deleted shots:lmao:

The ones high up were taken from the boxes above the pitlane (it was ING hospitality for the day), which gave a good view of cars coming down the pitlane - we've got some more similar ones (and some more closeup ones) but they need lightening as they were taken through the window with a polarizing filter.

When I did it late year I manually focus on the middle of the track and if my memory serves me correct I wa on 1/125 I had the 70-300m on and I just admit the number of pictures with half a car out numbered the ones with a whole car by about 3 to 1.:lmao:

What is TV setting, I've not got that one on my Nikon.

OMG, they are fantastic. We are huge F1 fans at our house. DH has been to the British F1 race every year for the past 20+ years, apart from in 1993 when he went to the european GP which was held at Donnington. When I show him these pics he will be green with envy.

Glad you had a fab time, will you be going to the british F1 GP in less than a couple of weeks? DH has already packed, he will be there for the whole weekend and he's taking DD 22 with him.

Sadly I have never made it to a race as DD 14 has special needs and she would not cope with the NOISE.....:car:

Brilliant photos Deb :thumbsup2

What is TV setting, I've not got that one on my Nikon.
You probably have, it is shutter speed setting - no doubt called something different on a Nikon.

I tried using both the manual focus route you described, but also used the servo focus setting - where the camera automatically adjusts the focus as you move the camera. Also used a long lens (75-300).

Sounds like a fab day, lovely photos too:thumbsup2
