Are there any basic wine tasting classes offered during the F&W Festival?
We go to alot of wineries, do the tastings (actually just did a Sr.Citizen Sideways trip as our kids put it), but have never been formally 'taught' the art of wine tasting.
Any info?

Thanks

There are plenty of informal tastings which give you a bit of how to taste the wine. Just depends on each vendor I guess. Just check the food/wine fest booklet when you arrive at EPCOT for the schedule of events.

Just remember this:

sight, swirl, smell, sip and savor

I've been to quite a few. Last year no one explained how to taste wine, although once, maybe 3 years back(?), one vendor did explain how to to implement one technique during his wine (California wines) tasting.

To answer what I think you initially asked, no, at the Food & Wine festival there are no classes or seminars devoted solely to teaching the art of wine tasting(techniques)...or any that even primarily serve that purpose...although it is possible that an individual tasting might have a host that mentions something on the subject.

They have the Epcot Wine Schools for $125 per person. Usually on Saturday & Most Sundays. I've never attended but I would think this might be what you are looking for.

You know, that's right. I had completely forgotten about those classes. I was speaking about the complimentary seminars offered 4 or 5 times each day.

I would hope, along with that class, one would have the opportunity to taste some very nice wines for that price! Whew! I've never been formally taught wine tasting techniques, but have watched how master sommeliers taste the wines, and then done likewise.

Lol...sometimes it gets a little "nosy" as schnozolas are thrust into goblets...and sometimes it gets a little noisy as it is "bubbled" into mouths and over palates...but it's all lovely!

Let me add it's certainly not intimidating to attend these complimentary seminars without having any wine tasting background. After all, the whole purpose of wine tasting is just that...to taste, to enjoy the taste of wines whether any techniques are employed or not. Sipping it is a perfectly acceptable and enjoyable way to taste wine, and the way many if not most choose to taste it at the seminars.
