I thought I would treat my mom to a mother/daughter get-a-way for the F/W festival in 2007. Planning on a small trip - 3 nights.

Plan on a studio at home (SSR).

Wondering when is a good, not to busy time to go. I know about Columbus Day. Is it just the day that is busy or the whole week? We would probably like to go in October sometime.

Can someone give me the ins and outs on October?

We usually go the 2nd weekend in October and the crowds are managable. I think this year we are going the 3rd weekend in October because we usually miss a band that we want to enjoy and end up watching/listening to someone or a group that we really don't enjoy that much. (This is for the Flower Power concert series in front of the American pavillion.)

The weather is also very nice during this time of year.

They are ALL good. If I could afford the points (and the vacation time) I would stay for all 6 weeks - new classes and events constantly rolled out.

If you want to avoid crowds, stay away from the weekends. the place seems to fill up with locals who come for the Fest. You can't entirely avoid crowds, though. We've gone to this event several years in a row, now, and it gets more crowded each year as word gets around.

Me thinks( meaning me not you) :rotfl2: we drink to much, therefore things we know we sometimes forget :faint:

We would check in on a Sunday and check out on a Wednesday.

I am kind of torn between the first week in October or the week after Columbus Day.

Hi,

I was down this past Oct. for the Food and Wine Festival. We were there the first week on Oct and it was still hot. (At least 90 each day). The news cast said that it was unseasonably hot but i don't know. We had the best time though. Everything was awesome. We tried all the little kiosks of food and drink. In the info center you can buy a reciepe book of the all foods being offered. Def. worth it. If I can make one suggestion.....I would try to arrive on Sat instead of Sunday and attend the Party for the Senses. It is worth every penny and my family and I think its the best thing we have ever done at Disney. It is only offered on Sat nights. We also did the Sweet Sunday which was great too. But the Party of the Senses was the highlight of the trip.

If you have any questions about the Food and Wine festival, please feel free to ask me!

Have fun planning!

I agree with Heather on everything. We went in Oct 2003 and this year it seemed much warmer. We also did party of the senses and loved it! We arrived on Oct 14 which was the Friday after Columbus Day. Sat and Sun were quite busy at F & W but by Monday we had the place to ourselves. A couple of afternoons we did just the F&W booths instead of a lunch and never had any lines to deal with.
