I just spoke with a CM this morning who confirmed (as of 9:45AM CST) that Teppan Edo will not open until 10/15.

I asked two questions:

1) Will Epcot still be offering the Sushi pairings as advertised but at a different location?

2) When can we book those pairings?

I was told that there were no plans to offer the pairings at an alternate location and that "no one" has any information about when guests will be allowed to book the sushi pairings, if at all.

I'd be interested to hear what everyone else has been told - I really don't want to call WDW dining every week to find out if Epcot's finally pulled the fingers out of its organizational butt.

Thanks for any input you might have! Maybe between us all we can help each other out on this one. :goodvibes

Hi Brenda!

I found out last night about the delayed re-opening set for 10/15. Thanks
for letting us know the situation (as stagnant as it is) as of this morning. I wanted to go to the 10/15 pairing, as well.

Maybe we need to keep calling back just to check the status of the event. Who knows? :confused3 I'm also going to wait and see if Disney decides just to cancel the pairings entirely or only have pairings beyond that day.

Hi Lori! :goodvibes

The thing that annoys me the most about this is that Disney isn't putting out any information indicating that this pairing isn't available to book and may not end up being available at all. Just another example of how un-customer oriented they can be sometimes. :sad2:

Surely the least they could do would be to update the F&W section of their website?

Ah well, if it doesn't get cleared up soon the man has already told me to "scrap it." Too bad, really, because not only was I looking forward to trying something outside of my "comfort" zone but I was hoping to get a chance to meet you in person.

We'll do our own sushi sampler at CA Grill one night and just spend the 15th lounging at the pool drinking frosty alcoholic beverages.

Actually, I think they should just move the sushi pairings to CA Grill this year, but then people wouldn't have to pay for entrance to Epcot for a pairing and we wouldn't want that now would we? ;)

1) I heard the pairing was still a "go".
2) But, that is from a CM, and NOT official.
3) We need to wait for the official announcement.

NOTE: Although I have had sushi around the world and do eat it occasionally, my thought is that IF GOD HAD MEANT US TO EAT SUSHI, HE WOULD NOT HAVE INVENTED FIRE.

I'll tell you what. If I find out they are taking ressies for the pairing, I'll PM
you and give you the choice. Meanwhile, I am seriously considering using the
"free" time as an excuse to nosh the kiosks if the pairing is canceled.

Uh, some rolls have cooked fish in it. ;)

We were looking at the sushi pairing on October 8 and keep calling every few days to see if there's any new information. We've been told the same thing: the restaurant rehab got pushed back, so that's where the problem comes from, but no word on if the pairings will be cancelled or moved to a different location. Will post if we ever hear anything new.

:rotfl2: That's funny. I've never eaten raw sushi... I'm still a novice. ;)

Thanks Lori, and I'll be sure to do the same for you. And we'll probably end up noshing that night, too, if we're not able to nab a pairing on 10/15. Still game for a meeting in France where we can discuss WWII collaboration and the art of adding anti-freeze to wine? :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, as I previously mentioned the only sushi I've ever eaten has been cooked...haven't been brave enough to venture into raw just yet.

Thanks for the update - good luck!

Another great place for sushi is Kimonos at the Swan. Really good!

Thanks for the link - my hubby and I were looking at their menu last night; it's quite extensive. We may just wander over there one night and give it a try. :thumbsup2
