Eyeglasses OK to wear on all rides?

I'm a WDW lover, and an adult male; but I wear eyeglasses all the time, and I'm wondering if there are any rides at any of the four parks where there might be a chance of the glasses flying off during the ride.

Your thoughts appreciated.

I wore mine on all rides last visit.

I was a little scared of Rockin Roller coaster and ToT, but they were fine!

I either have a glasses strap or take mine off on Rock N Roller, Space Mountain and Big Thunder. Those are the only ones that make me a little nervous because you are either jerked suddenly or go upside down. The glasses I have now are probably fine - but I'd rather be safe then blind!!

I don't do all the thrill rides, but I hold my hand to my face on Test track, the wind seems to come from behind you a bit.

Thunder Mt is OK, Spalsh Mt is OK. Kali River Rapids is OK, but you might get soaked. No problems on Soarin.

On Thunder Mountain Railroad the voice says, "hold on to those hats and glasses". I've been on all the Disney rides and never had a problem, plus I've never noticed other folks taking off glasses (except sunglasses ), but I'm sure with all the folks riding there must occasionally be a problem. I know I could not go anywhere without my glasses, so it would be a real bummer to lose them even for a little while. And if they were permanently lost or broken, ughhhh.

So to me, this is one of those things you can either worry about or just relax and hope for the best. I'd make sure your glasses are reasonably tight (not hurting your ears, just snug) and not sweat it. However, if you're as blind as I am you might think about having an extra pair of glasses readily available (not that I've ever done that).

It would be a shame to not wear your glasses on the rides- you'd miss all that wonderful Disney theming!

Appreciate your thoughts on this subject. I do take my glasses off, and slip them in my pocket, just before the big drop on Splash Mountain. (I learned the first time I rode that one that I couldn't see squat after the drop because of the water on my glasses.) but haven't had problems to speak of anywhere else.

But I was wondering if anyone was going to mention the new coaster (EE) at the Animal Kingdom. It's new to me, and I wonder about glasses there especially. I'll be hoping it's running this weekend, when I'll be there (on March 19).

I have glasses and have ridden every ride in WDW with them including EE 22 times. I have never had a problem. You have nothing to worry about.

RRC is my favorite WDW attraction, and I live 10 miles away, and I've had seasonal or annual passes active most of the time since RRC opened, but even so I may have only ridden it something like 20 to 40 times. Most I ever did was 3 in a row before I decided, "no more today".

EE is very smooth and might not be too bad on an old fogey like myself 3 or 4 times in a row, but even so I'm not sure I'd really enjoy doing that.

Are they the same as Croakies?? But seriously....My whole family wears glasses..dh and dd (12). I have taken mine off on RnRC, Space Mt, TT but found I didn't need to. So, I just wear my Croakie thingies all the time, just to be on the safe side.

I was too chicken that I would lose mine so I took them off for Tower of Terror and RNR.

I would be walking into walls (and anything else for that matter - probably would trip getting off the ride! ) without my glasses and didn't have a 2nd pair.

The only bummer about that is I couldn't see anything at all on those rides. Which actually made the TOT kind of funny - as my poor DD is screaming in sheer terror and I'm oblivious to what's going on - the one part they open the doors, I saw fuzzy colors couldn't see anything else - would have looked the same on the ground as in the air. Other than me screaming on the first drop. My poor kid is screaming and I'm over there laughing (mostly because the people behind us were laughing so I got tickled and since I couldn't see anything anyway had no clue).

I kept them on for every other ride but those were the only 2 big rides we did anyway.

I did see most other people wearing theirs though, I just didn't even want to take the chance (DD wears glasses to and I made her take hers off but she is not quite as blind as I am - so she can see without them).

I wear glasses all the time and I attach "croakies" to the arms -- just in case! I find I can enjoy RNR and TOT (really all rollercoasters) when my glasses are secure enough with croakies on rather than not and rather than experiencing the rides in that blurr.

My arms on my glasses are super slim so I bought eye glass "necklace" that has little tiny rubber band ends and I just keep pony tailing them on till secure. I believe "croakies" are ones that need fatter arm ends and they just slip over them because they are made from foam rubber.

You can find "croakies" at WDW and what I call eye glass necklaces at all drug stores, KMarts, Targets, etc.

Also while talking about glasses - pick up an eye glass repair kit to take with you. One year the screw fell out of my glasses and thankfully a girl in line with me saw it happen and saved my lense. I bought a repair kit at the resort that night and screwed it back in.

I live about 2 minutes from WDW and visit a disney park almost every day in my spare time. I have never rode everest more than twice in a single day.

If you have any doubt as to whether your glasses might fall off on, say, Mission Space or Tower of Terror, I'd strongly consider getting a neckstrap of some sort for those rides, and wear the glasses. Any ride that tends to make some feel nauseous (fortunately I'm not one of them), or plays tricks with the eyes like ToT does, I would want to make sure my vision is corrected, rather than tucking them away and possibly making potential nausea worse. It's almost always the visual perception of what's happening versus inner ear sensation that makes one feel nauseous on some rides. That could possibly be worsened if you're not correcting your vision as needed. You could then just carry the neckstrap in your pocket the rest of the day.

I lost my glasses on SM a couple of years ago. To be honest, it was my own fault and not the result of the ride. On the last turn right before the unloading zone, I simply went "to adjust" them. As I adjusted, the jerk of the turn caused my hand to flip them off and into the SM cavern. I checked lost and found for the next several days with no luck. The funny part is that there is a brief case of assorted glasses for each day from all of the parks. I would say 20 to 30 day! Since then, I have had the Lasik surgery so eyeglasses are no longer an issue.

My dad just wears a glass strap on his glasses and has never had a problem.
