Eyebrow Threading

I want to try this! I have a high pain threshold but I don't know what kind of pain this inflicts. I've done waxing and not had a prob with it at all pain wise, just redness for a while. The local threading "salons" are just kiosks in the mall , maybe I should look up reviews on them. How long does it last? I pluck my own now and have to do it like once a week. maybe I'm hairy? lol

You never know until you try! It hurts, but it's quick. Seriously I'm a huge baby and I manage

I might just have to give it a try. I get a bikini wax a few times per year - if I can survive that, I'm sure I can manage the 5 minute eyebrow threading! I'm going to have to look for a salon that does it around here....

Mine lasts about 6 weeks, it makes it very easy to pluck I between, the hairs grow back in softer, I hate plucking because I think it hurts but after threading plucking pain goes away because the hair grows back in finer. Mine look bad a few weeks after waxing. And having dark hair makes it even more noticeable

Ok yes you will be fine!! It is so quick, like it said the bottom seems to be more sensitive, but as soon as they stop the pain goes away. I say you should go for it, you seem brave!

Seriously the salon I go to is in the Walmart in my town, it's the closest one to me, and I think they do a great job!

Threading is 100 times less painful than waxing. I've done wax, I had the top layer of skin torn off, my eyes were swollen and puffy for a week and I bled...not doing that again thanks! I get threaded every 2 months or so, I do pluck a bit in between but not too much. The hairs are coming in finer so that's a good thing. Takes about 5 minutes, well worth the time and the money.

Good grief! Mrs. Tex read this thread over my shoulder and walked away with her hands covering her eyebrows. She doesn't thread, wax, pluck, or weed-whack her eyebrows. And I'm so very glad that men haven't gotten into this!

My hat's off to ya, ladies!

I've gone and boy does it hurt! Way more then waxing IMO. But I did love the shape of my brows after. I had to go once a month though an it became a hassle. I gave it up and went back to plucking when I got a heavy fringe but now that I cut my hair short it's time for more brow shape.

I'll also add, it didn't stop hurting. My threading lady told me that it hurts less each time but it never did :(

Don't knock threading until you try it! I don't have to clean up my brows until a couple weeks later because the process catches even the shortest of hairs. With waxing i used to have pluck stray hairs practically the next day! I might be in the minority but it doesn't hurt nearly as bad either. Some ladies have a lighter touch than others with the threading...I'm lucky to live near a fantastic family owned place and have had 4 different people shape my brows and they all do such a good job. I could never go back to waxing again!

This (bolded) is so true! Threading can be rough and painful, and gosh some of those ladies can be downright scary! Or it can be gentle and almost painfree. Once I found someone who was truly great at threading and has a very gentle touch, I never waxed again.

I tried threading for the first time when I as in the USA last year. There are not many places to get it done where I live. But I had been busting to try it so when I came across a place that did threading while on vacation last year and I went in to give it a go. (previously I've always has them waxed)

Oh my goodness :sad::sad: is what I did :rotfl2: Seriously it was agony. The lady said it's worst the first time but will be better the next time. My son was :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: at me! He thought it was hilarious.

Anyway as I was in the US for 4 months, I went and had them done again, same place, figured it wouldn't be as bad the second time, that's what the lady had told me! Well :sad::sad: I went again :lmao:

Yes, I went back a third time just before returning to Australia and again  So back in Australia, I am back to waxing. Rip it out in one big tug, then they put a little ice pack on it.

I will say that after every  of threading I loved the look! They did an amazing job and if I could find someone good where I live I may try again, but maybe not, I'm a bit of a sook.

Not all of us are born with naturally beautifully shaped eyebrows.

Reading all of this may I say, I'm very glad I'm middle age and married! Ouch all this waxing everywhere and "threading" I"m very glad we and guys didn't mind hair so much in the 70's and 80's!! Or I'd be a single, crazy cat lady.

Obviously the person waxing you had no idea what they were doing.

I'm middle age and married. I still get my brows waxed, because I like the way it looks.

LOL if I didn't pluck I'd have a unibrow an inch thick. If I am ever incapacitated, my sister has instructions to pluck or wax me.

I bring my own ice pack to put on afterwards. The actual eyebrow threading doesn't hurt that much, but when they accidentally catch stray hairs along my hairline, ouch.

The place I go charges $7

That's what I pay as well. The place I go ONLY does threading. They are wonderful, and I like it much better than waxing as they have so much control over what they're doing. It makes my eyes water and it's uncomfortable, but I wouldn't say it's painful. I probably get it done every 3-4 weeks and do some minor plucking to keep it decent in-between.

I have had threading done once. Never again. I have never had anything hurt as bad as that. Then she had to do the second one. I have my bikini area waxed (pretty bare) and it never hurt as bad as threading does. I prefer waxing my brows. I don't know that I could ever give it a second chance it was that bad.
