Has anyone ever heard of this? Its a program used to speed up your reading skills and in the process is suppose to make you smarter by abling you to take in more information at one time. Unlike other speed reading courses, this one claims that you can actually comprehend what you're reading instead of just reading it. I saw it on an infomercial a while back ago and I went to their web page today to try the free demo. I always knew that I was a slow reader but I never knew exactly how slow. Well, I read 166 wpm the first time. Then you go through a kind of series of tests...you don't have to answer any questions or anything. Its mostly just following pictures around the screen to help your eyes practice to move faster and then you read a series of words and stuff. Well, after that I increased my reading speed to 206 wpm. And it only takes 7 minutes! They say 7 minutes a day for a few months and you can be reading 1500 wpm!!! I thought it sounded pretty cool and I just wanted to share it with my DIS buddies :)

1500 wpm...imagine how fast I could DIS if I could read 1500 wpm

That test hurt my eyes! My starting rate was 476, but I thought those visual tests were going to give a seizure so I stopped. :)

Yeah, some of them are pretty bad. I wasn't wearing my glasses and by the time I was done I had a pretty bad headache. DH is going to get it for me and I think it'll be worth the headaches if I can read faster. I'd actually have time to sit down and read a book. I LOVE reading but it just takes me so long to get through a book that I just don't have time for it.

I only increased 12 wpm, but I'm a fast reader to begin with. It was very interesting and fun to do. :)

They said I increased my reading spead from 510 WPM to 1035, but I don't believe them. I do read very fast, but it's just something I do--no one ever "taught" me how to do it. IMHO, the best way to increase your reading speed is to read difficult material more often. I usually read books by 18th and 19th century British authors. When I read something modern, it's incredibly easy to read and my speed greatly improves.

I do think that part of the reason I can read so fast is because my normal field of vision is very large and I don't have to move my eyes. My eyes didn't really move at all on those exercises.
