Eye Brow threading

I always see people doing this at our local mall. I have always wondered how it feels, how long it lasts, is it a replacement to waxing, or does it just shape the brows?

I had my eyebrows and upper lip threaded at our local mall in June before we went to Japan. My eyebrows looked great and lasted all summer, as did my upper lip.

The upper lip hurt a lot more than the eyebrows. I had tears running down my face when she was doing my lip. Ouch is right!

I will probably go again soon, if I get up enough courage it looks better than waxing.

I dunno. I've never had threading done, but I've had my brows waxed many, many times. It's so quick, only a sting with they pull it off and you're done.

My DD (now 19) has had her eyebrows waxed and threaded, and now will only do threading. Had one particularly bad experience with waxing...hurt like heck and left her skin red and raw.

I'll stick with waxing. I actually love getting my eyebrows waxed...feels as good as getting a back scratch. :confused3

The threading hurt more, but my eyebrows were really out of control so can't be sure. But there was no redness afterwards like with waxing.

Never heard of it.

I've never heard of it either so I searched on You Tube. It seems really simply. Is this really something you need to go and have done professionally? The young girls on You Tube make it seem so simple but I am old and slow. :rotfl2:

I still don't understand exactly *what* eyebrow threading is. My eyebrows are out of control and need some help. I have an eyebrow piercing, though, so I want to do something that hurts the least and isn't doing a lot of pulling and tugging. I can't even pluck near my piercing.

Threading hurts more than waxing. Not unbearable though. If you have sensitive skin that reacts badly to wax it's an alternative. If your pain tolerance is real low I wouldn't suggest threading.

I can wax my eyebrows and they are red for an hour or so but that's it. Lip is another story. Red, bumps. etc. Can't use wax there so I've done threading. My eyes water yes but I'm not crying. I just can't stop it. Like chopping an onion. :rotfl: It's a sensitive area.

I would like to try it. I am seeing more and more salons offering it. However I like the fact that I can walk into my place, and get my lip and brow done in about 5 minutes.

What does it normally cost to have your lip/brows done?

I just watched it & just tried it. It wasn't hard, and with practice I could probably be as coordinated as they were. :rotfl:

I wouldn't say it was painful, just a minor pull when the hairs were coming out. I did my upper lip. It just did a nice job and was much faster than trying to tweeze all of those tiny hairs.

Finally, a use for all those tiny spools of ugly thread colors. :rotfl2:

Oh man, threading is so much better than waxing!! Waxing, I had it done once, it burned as they put the wax on, they pulled it off and ripped half my face off! LOL Seriously tho, my eyebrows were red and swollen for 3 days AFTER and they BLED for about 5 minutes after!! It was insanely painful so I said never again. Threading takes about 3-5 min. and feels so much better! In and out and it's over. They charge $12 where I go (just a stand in the mall) and they charge $15 at the spa across the street.

I used to only do waxing, but now I have had to switch to purely threading since my skin breaks out with the wax. Threading essentially feels just like plucking except you are doing multiple hairs at a time. For me, that is much more painful than waxing. Threading typically lasts just under or around a months time with no additional plucking.

I passed by this thread all afternoon but curiosity finally got to me and I had to see what eyebrow threading was, lol...DD16 and I looked up a youtube video and now she's in the bathroom doing it. It's definitely working for her, she said she'll do this for now on instead of waxing. I tried it quickly but I decided I'd let her try first, I'm not one for pain, I flinched the first time I felt it pull.

I like threading. It does hurt more than waxing, but my skin does not get as irritated. With waxing I will have redness and bumps for up to 5 days. Threading I either have no bumps, or just for a day.

it does hurt! but sooo worth it because it shapes your eyebrows SOOO nicely in a way waxing just cant! and i find it lasts longer too! and its cheaper! (at least around here - I pay 3 bucks!)

Well, I just tried it after watching a YouTube "how-to" video.. Holy cow, it HURT. The good news is I didn't get red at all and it went a lot quicker than what I normally do - just plucking. I think I'll probably keep trying to do threading from now on. :thumbsup2

Okay... stupid question, but what is it? I saw a kiosk with this at the mall, but it looked weird so we kept on walking by.
