I'm not sure if this is the right place to post. I'm wondering if anyone has ever rented points through the Timeshare store. I have rented directly from members and also through dvcrequest.com in the past and been extremely pleased. This time I was trying to reserve through the Timeshare store and it just ended in frustration. Would have rented directly from a member again but the points do go fast on the rent/trade board. I guess I'd like to think this was a fluke and give them a try in the future but right now I'm irritated since I had been working with them for 5 days and ended up with no reservation. This may solidify my decision to just go ahead and buy into DVC myself. Sorry for the rant but the delay has caused me to cancel the entire trip.

I am sorry you had a bad experience, but mine was a very smooth one.

They had expiring points available (within two hours I had a reservation)

I guess it is hit or miss...

I'm relieved to hear that someone had a good experience. I was trying to book expiring points too. Gave a list of every resort in order of preference to make it easy. I knew most would be booked up. Just wanted to know how to pay. Tried it twice as soon as points became available and no dice. You must have gotten a more responsive salesperson because mine was definitely a miss.

If you are looking for a reservation in a relatively short time (guessing by expiring points), you may be having problems with availability. Just because there are points, doesn't mean that something is available.

I really wish that was the case because I would have totally understood. There was availability. I just could never get them to book the reservation for me. I gave them a list of all the resorts in order of preference but by the time someone would email me back and ask which resort (which is why in included a list in the first place), the points would be gone. I had been trying since Friday and I either got no response, or I'd get an email back asking "do you still want to book? Really? Yes, I want to book! Uh, which resort again? Well, just follow my list, since I included every last resort. Then an email back "is such-and-such resort ok?" Are you kidding me?!!! I've done this before so I already knew what they needed. I just wanted to get booked so I could pay. Then my favorite part that I never mentioned, he went ahead and booked me ( or so I was told) for ONE night because there were only a few points left by that time. Hey, thanks for that! That really helps me. Now I've been messing around all this time and the resorts are getting book up and the points are gone. That's awesome. I just want to scream over all the time I've wasted and by now, I'm sure there isn't availability in the resort I wanted.

Sorry to hear you have had such a difficult time. I booked through the TSS 2 times and both were great. The first person I dealt with was going out of town and someone else just picked up and did everything- no problems. Maybe it was someone new that you were dealing with :confused3
Did you try calling them directly and expressing your dissatisfaction?

Yes, I actually spoke to 2 other people. On 2 separate occasions, by the time i got someone else to help me, the available points had already been booked. Never got any kind of explanation from the original agent other than "oh your emails go in my spam folder or I'm off for the weekend or I was only in the office a few hours yesterday." Certainly not an apology either. I feel sorry for the other 2 agents who finally tried to follow up with me because I'm sure they were keenly aware of my frustration by the time the call ended. Tried to be nice because it wasn't their fault that I got the runaround. Also, I still cannot figure out why he would go ahead and book me for a single night after all that. That was just a waste of the DVC member's time. I had to email him back AGAIN to tell him to cancel it. So when he did finally book something for me it wasn't even what I requested. Yet the other times, he must have emailed me back a half dozen times to confirm what resort I wanted when I had already provided a list. You should see the emails. They read like some kind of comedy skit.

The other thing to always remember when renting, is that during the length of time one can email or even have a phone conversation due to the fact you are not talking directly to Member Services, openings can be gone.

It even happens to Members talking directly to MS all the time.

The openings weren't gone it was the points that were gone. I was flexible on my resort choices because I already knew that might be an issue. If that had been the case I would have totally understood. It was the lack of response from my 'agent' that led to the points bring gone before he finally got back to me.

Thanks for sharing and sorry it happened to you. I think that one of the drawbacks of using email when time is of the essence, is that some people are better at managing it than others and unfortunately, for you, this turned out to be a case. But, at least we all know now that phone calls may be a better way to go.

That is the same with me. When I dealt with someone and he knew he was leaving, he made sure someone else helped me. Their service was excellent and I would use them again in a heartbeat. (and I was booking with expiring points on short notice)

If you don't mind, could you send me a PM with your agent's name. I must have gotten one who was too busy to help me. Believe me, I'm sympathetic since my husband works in a similar field. However, the whole situation got to be ridiculous with the stinking ignorant emails. I will carve out a moment to call first in the future. Then confirm it by email so I can have it in writing. Thanks for responding because I was ready to trash the entire organization over a single individual.
