Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (my favorite show) just announced to a local family that they will be rebuilding their home. I hope to be one of the families that stands and watches the design team reveal the house to the family on November 17th and hope to visit tomorrow and over the weekend. Construction begins tomorrow and finishes next Friday. Here is the link the the local paper with the info: http://www1.kitsapsun.com/bsun/local/article/0,2403,BSUN_19088_3320094,00.html How cool can that be!!

We are a small town across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Kingston isn't really a city. We have no city government. Just a chamber of commerce. Not city police or fire department. I live about 4 miles away.

This is the first thread I've ever started on the disboards. I lurk mostly...but I just couldn't keep this to myself. The most important thing is they are sending the family to WDW! Mother and three daughters. Lucky them. Secondly they are getting a 3,200 sq. ft. house too. Six bedrooms. Their house burned down and insurance didn't cover the rebuilding. Too bad I have to work and can't watch 24 hours a day.

Wow! You are so lucky to be close. My family is hooked on this show. I love watching the deserving families get new digs! (And also the fantastic vacations they take while the new digs are built!)

Neat! It's a great show, even if they milk the teary a bit too much sometimes...

You should be sure to wear something lime green so all us DISers can pick you out of the crowd! :)

I love Kingston, We go for a week in the summer to my BIL house. He lives right on the water. It is a nice place to go. and I like to take the farry to Pike Place for the day. Last year we went to the zoo it was nice.

How very wonderful!!! My family and I watch this every sunday after Americas Funniest Videos! My husband and I are always sniffling by the end! And what about Ty? Love it when he takes his shirt off......:smooth: wooohoo!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally love this show. I feel that if Walt were around that he would be proud that ABC is doing something like this. Maggie

Wow!!

I have NEVER had a television show I could not miss until THIS one. It has to be my all time favorite show ever on televsion!

My family is always snuffling by the end too! Even hubby - who's isn't much of a snuffler!! hahaha

That is really neat that they picked a house so close to you...

It is a great show it is a Sunday ritual that DW and myself watch it while DD is sleeping. Sometime my DW is so upset that she needs to get away from the tv. It is a great show!::yes::

Let us know how the filming goes! And, do they really only take one week to rebuild a house?! I love that show!

From what I can tell so far...they have been doing background work (i.e. permits, brush clearing, working with local agencies) for a few weeks. The actual demolition is tomorrow and the "reveal" is next Friday. So that is basically one week. They told the family on Tuesday however. Close enough.

I am taking my sons to the location tomorrow morning. They aren't allowing any local cars at the location. We have to take a shuttle bus from a park-n-ride to get there. I've heard it takes an hour to get on a bus. I hope it isn't just a nightmare. I am thinking we will ride our bikes or walk if we must.

This is a very rural part of Washington State. There aren't any sidewalks or parking spaces on most roads. My understanding is that the design team is staying across the Puget Sound in a "real" hotel and commuting on the ferry boat every day. We don't have any 4 star hotels or probably any 1 star hotels within the county. The ferry runs about every hour and takes about 25 minutes to cross. Luckily the weather has been gorgeous the past few days. Let's hope the rain holds off and the television crew has gotten clips of the ferry and mountains and water since the weather might not last.

I'll update when I know more. Maybe even take some pictures.

and one in the town next to us, which was probably the closest to our house, I still haven't gone to see either of them.
The one in the town next to us was the heart transplant girl, and the word around the hospital(where they do the transplants and where I work) was that the mom is the kind who is always trying to get attention like this. It's hard to believe people would use their ill child for their own betterment, but I've seen it with my own eyes where I work. Disclaimer- I do not know this woman or if it is even true.
But I know it will help the little girl, and the family has to sacrifice a lot to go through transplant, so it's worth it.
Have fun watching! BTW My dad lives in Mukilteo, is that close to you?

That is so exciting, I hope you get to go watch. During the summer they did a house somewhat near me (about 45 minutes away). We went by 2 days before the family came home. I've got pictures of Ty, Paul, and the blonde (can't remember her name). What I really liked is that the 'stars' really work hard. I thought maybe it was just show biz that made it look like they did so much. But its really true, they were working their butts off.

You are making me both jealous and homesick. Extreme home makeover is our family's favorite show.....I am sure the family they picked in Kingston is very deserving. I grew up in Edmonds (across the Sound from you all) and Camano Island- but am now stuck in the flatlands of Central Illinois. Hug an evergreen for me and take a deep inhale of the lovely smell of the rainforest for me....we miss the water and the mountains SO very much! Wave to all of us DISers during the crowd scene!

Oh, you are soooo lucky to watch this!!!! You have to take pictures of Ty etc. and post them, ok? I wonder when they'll air this episode.

My daughter is always joking about how I would love the makeover but I would love even more having an all-expense paid week at Disney. That's my dream!! Whenever a family gets to go there I am so excited for them. Especially if they have never gone. Our family watches the show every week and the things that they do in a week totally blows our minds. And Ty is definitely easy on the eyes.

:faint: I'm so jealous! You are lucky! I would LOVE to be able to witness this close up!

I LOVE that show so much! I missed the last two weeks because I was at WDW. :(

Let us know when it airs and keep us posted!

By the way, does anyone know if this show is repeated throughout the week, after it is aired on Sunday? I saw the last 10 minutes last Sunday and don't you know, I was balling and didn't even know that family yet. That little blind boy on that swing...it killed me. I really want to see the entire episode.

This show makes me cry everytime. I tried to find the email address to thank them for this show. So glad they use the $$$$$$ to help a family, instead of salaries for high priced actors.

And of course Ty makes me laugh. What a cutie!::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::
