Extra Towels?

As I'm nearing an upcoming trip my only complain with DVC is the lack of extra towels. I know I could have mousekeeping every day for a fee (and I think it's pretty steep about $40 a day).

What are the options though if I wanted some extra towels? Do I just call up housekeeping and they will bring them up at no charge (a tip to the person that brings them up)? Do they charge me for them?

We don't reuse our towels at home, so I really don't like to reuse when on vacation.

Thanks!

Agreed - it's $6, not $40. The higher fee you are referencing is for an extra full cleaning - that cost depends on the size of the unit.

To add to what supersnoop said, it's been reported here that if you buy a towel pack, on your Trash & Towel day they take away all of the towels in your room and replace them with the usual number. In other words, that towel pack fee covers the use of those extra towels from the day you pay for the towel pack until your next T&T or full cleaning day. You won't get to keep those extra towels for the duration of your stay.

You can purchase a "towel pack" for $6. Extra towels are not free.
"Towel Package: $6 - includes 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat"

You can either purchase a towel pack for additional towels or you can launder them yourselves. If you are in a 1 BR or larger it is a snap to throw in a load of towels. If you are in a studio there are free laundry facilities as well.

Disney Vacation Club Resorts offer laundry and housekeeping services. Daily housekeeping service is not provided for Members.

A 24-hour self-service laundry room is available at each Disney Vacation Club Resort. There are also dry-cleaning and valet laundry services. Villas with one or more bedrooms feature an in-unit washer and dryer.

Great! Thank you everyone for the response. I didn't know they did all the extra packs. I don't think the price for the towel pack is bad at all. And, thanks or the explanation of making sure I request another towel pack after the mid-way service that's included. We always just get a studio so no washer in the room, I might check into the laundry center though.

One more question, how do I get this? Do I contact them before I check in so it's in the room?

I'v always asked for the Towel Package as well since I have a large brood. When we stay in GV's, especially at OKW I have always found the bathrooms to be extremely well stocked with bath linens.

Members Services likely still has a code they can place on your rez for the towel package request. I know for a fact they used to, because I put it on a ton of rez's when I worked there a long time ago.

Just call Housekeeping and ask for a towel pack for your studio.

While they may not replace them automatically, they may if you ask. Also, once you have the towel pack, you have more flexibility. I assume you're in a studio. Say you get a towel pack and the original towels, you can then stick those in the laundry and you'll have a fair supply. Also they'll do cleanings/trash&towel at 3-4 day intervals included depending on the length of the stay. So even a family of 4 in a studio who require a clean towel once a day really should be able to get by with 1 or 2 towel packs fairly easily for any length of stay. Remember they don't have to take the other towels away when they do the cleaning/towel day. So if you have clean ones, just put them away so they don't take them. Our usual approach when we have a W/D is to wash them on the cleaning day so their in the W/D.

A few years back my MIL came and stayed with us for a couple of nights in the middle of the stay and I called and asked if I could have a couple of extra towels and they just brought them. I don't recall us being charged anything.

DH needs extra towels for some medical stuff. We always ask for extras but I don't think we have ever been charged. Not sure why.

This is one of the reasons why we love booking the 1 bedrooms at Kidani and at BLT as you get 8 towels to start

When I stayed at VGC in a 1 bedroom, there were only 2 sets of towels in each bathroom, so there were only 4 sets total.

Wow that's unusual we have always had 4 sets per bathroom
I think the standard allotment is 4 total for the 1 BR. I'm guessing getting 4 each is just habit and not planned.

In 23 years of membership I have never noticed that OKW places less towels than any other DVC resort I have stayed in over the years. I think the amount can vary according to what housekeeper is cleaning the room as well as the size of the villa. As mentioned earlier, when we have stayed in GV's at OKW (which is a lot of different visits), I have found OKW to be so generous with the towels provided that I didn't even need to order any extra towel package(s) at all.

From reports, it seems like they often don't bother charging, but since they list a price, its probably best to expect to be charged - then if Disney doesn't charge and some pixie dust gets thrown your way, its a treat - as opposed to not expecting to pay for towels and suddenly having a charge that's added up to a lot of Mickey Bars by getting a full towel set every day and getting charged.

Towel counts can definitely be interesting. Our BCV 1BR this Dec had the 4 bath towels. It had 2 hand towels. And it had 8 washcloths.

So you got four extra facecloths? Weird. Did they have them folded into a shape or something? We used to get a facecloth folded into a toothbrush holder a few years ago.
