Do any of you give an extra gratuity when using the Vacation Kingdom Lunch Vouchers? I know that 15 percent is included, but we usually give $20 for excellent service. Our server in Canada today was great, so my husband added an extra $5. Just curious what everyone else does.

We add an extra tip if the service is good.

We had a server at Beaches & Cream that was rather short in answering our questions. He also sighed when I asked if they had sugarfree ice cream for my husband who is diabetic. needless to say he did not receive anything extra.

We've always had really great service when using the vouchers at Beaches and Cream and Rainforest Cafe, so we leave an extra tip.

We usually leave a 20% tip and only 15% is goven with the voucher....we use them as close to dinner as possible. I've got to say the waitress we had at Beaches and Cream was so bad, she only got 15%! She acted like we were doing something wrong by using the voucher.

We left additonal tips as well - especially when the service was very good and my DH & I split the entree and appetizer from one VKL voucher. (No way could I eat all the food that you get with a VKL voucher all by myself). I also reminded the server that the voucher included a 15% tip for her. She seemed surprised so I said to be sure and check with her manager on how to get it. This was at Morocco.

Apparently not all of the servers are as familar with these vouchers as we might think. Maybe some of them feel they've been "stiffed" by voucher users and so are not especially happy ton see them. (Not trying to excuse, just to explain). I'm thinking there is a "special" procedure the servers need to use to get the tip. Seems like the Beaches 'n Cream servers should know what's up, though. They surely get so many peole using them there that it would be a big surpirse to find a server who didn't know about them.

Anyway, that's MHO. YMMV.

Best wishes -

That's good information about the tip! Both times we have used them, the servers were very familiar with them, but if we get someone who doesn't seem to be, I'll be sure to explain.

we always left enough extra to meet 20%, usually it was under $5 more so we just left a$5 ( we split one voucher between us). this is one thing i noticed.. every waiter we had seemed shocked when we did so. just my opinion but i am already getting a steal with the food, I don't need to be cheap with the service person too! I firmly believe many do not tip additional and the one snotty waiter we had at boma( called them food stamps , gave us lousy service) was totally embarassed ( I think because of what a creep he had been) when my husband gave him the extra...,hubby is nicer that me i would have taken the prepaid 15% "back" if I could have there but maybe he won't be such a CREEP to the next family he waits on with them)

also at pepper market the service charge works out to something like a 3-5% tip for the server (we asked the manager there) so they really should be tipped more since they did as much as a buffet service would have

"Food stamps!" What a snot! Considering that some people do not even tip 15 percent, that waiter should have been glad to have the vouchers. I'm glad that we've run into ones who give great service so far. You'd think they'd realize that they catch more flies with honey. ;)

Like the others above, we would normally tip 20% for good service, so leave enough extra to bring the tip to that amount. The only time we did not was when the waitress was disinterested, unprofessional, and never did get all our food to the table. She would have been tipped closer to 10% if it had been out of my pocket.

We always add extra for the tips and make it close to 20% even with the bad service we had at Beaches and Cream :(

For good service we always add extra to make it a 20% tip. If we share a meal we tip as if we had two meals. If service is bad, we don't add extra and we leave a note explaining why so the staff won't think we're just cheap tippers.

lol I wanted to leave anote and a 10% tip recently due to abysmal service but my kids refused to let me...felt the note was over the top...i thought it would help them see why they got a lousy tip since otherwise they would just think i was cheap!

I think the manager misquoted you. They do get less, so we add to it, but it's 10%.

the entire service charge is 10% but according to him the wait staff does not get it all..he said the actual waiter/waitress gets 3-5% of the bill as a tip from the service charge ( not sure what Mickey does with the rest, we were just asking him about the tipping aspect to know how much more to leave)
