Extra night costs for Backstage Magic trip

Does anyone know what the cost is for extra nights added to the Southern California Backstage Magic trip? I'm trying to price out if I can afford to book one of the 2018 trips as a solo traveler. As I would be coming from Massachusetts, I would really like to add an extra night at Disneyland and possibly the night before the trip starts. I know the Adventures by Disney website mentions special rates for this if booked through them, but I haven't been able to find out anything on what those rates might be. If anyone knows even a ballpark figure of what they might be, I would be very grateful.

The rates for pre- and post-nights are not on the website anywhere. You need to call ABD, or ask a Travel Agent if no-one here can give you the answer. Remember, you'll be paying a Single Supplement of about 40% of the per person price for the ABD itself as a solo traveler. You'll pay full price for the hotel rooms for pre- and post-nights. I haven't taken this specific ABD, so I don't know what the charge is for the extra nights.

Sayhello

I just booked this for this April, also as single. 1 night at the DL Hotel is $449. Not sure if the price is fluctuating as my trip is just before Easter.

We did this adventure in June 2016. I just looked up our cost and it was $498 per room at the Grand Calif. We had 4 people split into two reservations so we paid this amount twice (i.e. we were charged per room not per person).

Has anyone stayed at another hotel for pre-trip?
We stayed two nights at the Hilton Universal - very convenient for touring Universal Studios. We arrived on a Friday evening, drove to Malibu for dinner, spent all day Saturday touring Unviersal (using VIP tour which was well worth it for us), and then drove to brunch in Hollywood at the Ivy on Sunday morning.

We are doing the Universal Hilton and the VIP Universal tour prior to our trip in December

How would one be able to stay near Universal Studios if you are doing the BSM tour? Would you be able to get transport to the hotel from the airport or from Universal Studios hotel to the BSM hotel selected?

That sounds like a fun idea. :)

I used credit card points to stay at Loewes Hollywood Hotel the night before our trip began. We got free parking as well. Did not have to change rooms etc. Did the same thing for ABD NYC stayed two nights on points before trip started. I noted it on the ABD reservation to have room reservations joined but I made my own room reservations

We live in Northern California so we had our own car. If you were flying in you could rent a car for two days and return it back to the airport and take ABD transfer from airport to Loews (I am pretty sure you can do this as it was one of our thoughts, but I did not 100% confirm it) or just take a shuttle or uber from the airport to Universal Hilton and then from the Hilton to the Loews. Renting a car would give you the freedom to do more things on Sunday morning before the ABD starts however using Uber would be really easy too if you were just going between Burbank/Hollywood/West Side sites.

Also, I'll add to what Hilarys said. The Hilton is only 3 miles from Loews, so my plan is just to Uber or taxi. We could have stayed at Loews and just made our way to Universal the same way,but I have a ton of Hilton points, so two free nights there were definitely my rationale for picking that location.

Yeah, I looked into the red line, but figured with luggage, it was probably going to be easier with a taxi. That's just me though, I'm sure others are okay with it
