My daughter may decide not to join us (50-50 chance) on our upcoming trip. However, because of the way our plans worked out (she was not going to be with us the whole time anyway and thus we'd DDP have credits left over), that cancellation would cause us to lose those extra points which the rest of us were going to use.

SO, I'm thinking that if she cancels I will still keep her on the plan as a "ghost" so we'd have those points. Is that "allowed?"

PS. I'm getting this through DVC so it's not through a "package" that would include her tickets, too.

This is a question that only Disney can answer. We do know that Disney actively prohibits phantom guests during the free dining promotion -- they even include a requirement on the confirmation letters indicating that all guests listed on the reservation must present themselves at check-in. There is no way anyone here can know how to read into the fact that they don't include that warning in other circumstances. It just doesn't happen often enough for Disney to have established a clear intention.

I know mine is a different situation and doesn't exactly answer your question, but I just booked a package with dining and I will be arriving before the rest of my family by a couple of days. Originally I booked room only, but after crunching numbers, we decided to add the dining plan. I explained the situation to the CM and she was very helpful about how to add a different number of days to our tickets, we talked about booking the MYW transportation (hope they get that one right!), how to best use those extra credits, ect. I'm sure that during "free" dining it's a different story, but our party will not all be present at check in and that doesn't appear to be a problem...

when we were at Disney we split up on our last night. At EPCOT my kids and I decided to eat around the countries with our counter service we had left. we used 4 or 5 that night. No one ever questioned anything. They just load all your credits on your account and you use them as you want.

I am also DVC so it should work the same for you.

If we are discussing adding imaginary guests to the DP, it can not be discussed here & needs to be directed to CRO.

I am not sure of the answer but since you are DVC you are paying for your DDP so I cannot see why Disney would care. You're paying they got their money. Why would it matter who eats the food? Its not like making up people to get more out of free dining.

This appears to be yet another one of those questions that only WDW can answer.
