Evening Extra Magic Hours typically extend three hours beyond a park's scheduled closing time. You'll need to obtain a wristband at the theme park by presenting a valid Key to the World Card at one of several designated locations no sooner than two hours prior to park close.

Could someone explain this to me... what's a "world card" and you have to go and get a wristband 2 hours before they close?

Thanks!

The "Key to the World" card is your resort ID card. When you are staying at a Disney hotel you are issued this card. It is your room key as well as your charge card (if you leave a CC on your room account), it is also your park ticket (if you choose to purchase them and have them put on your room key. The key shows that you are a resort guest and being that EMH is for Disney resort guests only you would need to show it in order to be admitted to stay for the event.

As for wristbands, they have places around the parks that they will be issuing wristbands...they begin issuing the bands 2 hours prior to the offical park closing time if you are already inside the park, if you are coming in for EMH from another park they will issue them to you at the turnstile when you enter the park. All you have to do is show your Resort ID card (Key to the World) and they will issue you the wristband. The band signifies that you are a resort guest and have access after the park closes. They will ask to see the wristbands for access to the rides once EMH begins if you do not have one they will advise you that the park is closed and ask you to head to the front of the park.

The Key to the World card is your room key/charge card that you receive when you check in to your hotel. You have to get the wristband any time during the 2 hours before they close for regular hours.

This designates you as a resort guest.

Hope that helps

Debbie

The World Card that is referenced is a Walt Disney World resort card. It contains both a room key and ticket information for the parks. Only the resort guests can use the Extra magic hours for each park. In order for a guest to gain access to all the rides that are open during the EMH, they must have a wristband, which you can get within 2 hours of closing at certain locations at each park. Even if you are a resort guest, you must have a wristband to ride the rides during the Extra Magic Hours.

I hope that explains it for you.

Wow! All three of you posted those replies at exactly 8:41pm. All the little kiddies must be tucked in their beds by 8:30? :)
I was going to add that you need to make sure your entire party is with you to get the wristbands. I stood in a 20 minute line to get wristbands for my family of 4, only to find out that all four of us needed to be present in order to get the wristband. Not sure if anyone else has goofed that way, but thought I'd mention it. Next time I'll also be sure to get the wristband before closing. We got caught up in the parade, and the fireworks, and then trying to find a place to eat. By the time we got around to getting the wristbands the line for them was probably 80-100 people long.
Have a great trip! :wave2:

Let me add that there are something like three locations at each park for wristband distribution. The one closest to the entrance will always have the longest line. Go over to allearsnet.com for information on where to obtain the wristbands.
Also, you can arrive at the EMH park after it starts. As long you are a Disney resort guest you will be allowed to enter and given your wristbands.

Can't you get your wristband any time during the extra magic hours session? (Although you may not go on rides until after you get it.)

Can't individual family members holding their own room keys get wristbands at different times?

As far as I know, yes.

Can you only get the writstbands at the park with the EMH for that evening? On our check in day we are going to AK and have dinner planned for Boma. I would then like to go to the EMH at MGM. Can I get the wristband at my resort or do I have to go to MGM? We will not get there until after EMH has started can we still get in?

Wristbands are only issued at the park that is offering the EMH. In your case you will get the wristband as you enter, they will have them at the turnstiles.

In my post about making sure your entire group is present to get the wristbands I should have noted that I was standing in line so that my family wouldn't have to. They were waiting for me back at the Country Bear Jamboree and we forgot to get our wristbands. I said, "Wait here, I'll run and get four of them." Nope! Can't do that. Although the CM did let my wife and 2 kids into the show without the wristbands. They told him where I had gone and that I'd be right back. Surprised he didn't mention that I'd be returning empty handed, but maybe he wasn't aware of that either. As long as you've got your keycard to show them you can get your wristband. Sorry for the confusion. :wave2:

Does everyone have to have a room card? My husband and I usually only carry our cards and don't bother carrying the kids cards since they are all under 11, don't have charging privledges and their cards don't open the door.

The Key to the World card is just like any other room key in shape, just like a credit card, with the little magnetic stripe on the back. Last time we were there they were blue, with a picture of the Cinderella castle on them.

If your tickets are attached to your hotel package, you will use it to enter the parks, as well.

If you want them to, they'll set it up so that you can charge food, drinks, and gift shop purchases back to your hotel room, which has your real credit card on file.

You have to show it in the park to get your evening EMH wristband. For morning EMHs, they just glance at it (no wristband). We had to show a card for everyone, including kids, but I don't know if that is a hard & fast rule, because we had them with us.

While they may generally be issued at the gate, we did not receive one when we arrived (during the EMH) at MGM in August.

Have a great trip!

Everyone three and older will need the room ID to take part in EMH activities. The Room ID will have the user's name printed on it. They have handheld scanning devices that scans the room ID to make sure it hasn't been used already by someone trying to cheat the system.
