Extra Magic Hours Question

Okay, why are you SO angry? Do you OWN Disney?

I would like to say thank you to Luv4Disney for her ability to state her opinions without being angry.

I did not mean to make anyone ANGRY. If I did not expressly state it before, let me say it now--shady EQUALS wrong. Okay, that is said.

I haven't booked anything, and I probably won't. I wanted to feel out what the general population's general consensus was on this situation, and I would like to thank all of you who shared your honest opinions.

I too felt it was WRONG, but I've seen so many people do it (the resort issue, that is), I thought I may have been in the minority.

I still disagree with your opinions (D&B) about the dining plan "loopholes." Disney is very upfront and honest about the meal plan and the extra magic hours.

I don't know WHY they put all the meals in one pot to be used at one's own discretion, and I don't know WHY they let non-resort guests stay in the parks after they close for the extra magic hours, but they DO do both of these things. (Do you think it's wrong if I go to McDonald's and want smaller portions so I order a kids' meal when there is no kid in my car? Most Moms do this to both save money and to get the smaller portions.)

We could debate this issue all night long. The one thing we all DO agree on is putting an extra person in a 4-person room. You are right L4D, if you put another person in a resort room, you SHOULD pay for them, and that would mean using the moderate rooms instead of the value rooms.

We should all feel free to agree to disagree on these boards, not get angry and yell at each other. My apologies for causing such anger. I just asked everyone's opinions on putting a 5th person in a 4-person room.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question!

You are right, CD, I did start the thread asking about getting in to the MORNING extra magic hours.

My apologies. That was my main question, and I did end up turning it around. I think that happened because everyone started talking about the resort issue.

Thanks!

My mother is in the very early stages of Parkinsons and has never been on a vacation in her life. This is a one-time chance to take her along before the disease progresses plus a wonderful chance for her to see her grandsons experience Disney.

I'm sorry to hear your mom is ill - I hope she's able to stave off any debilitating effects as long as is possible and has many productive years to come!

If she's never been on a vacation in her life and this is a one time chance for her to join your family, isn't that alone worth splurging on the upgrades? Given the situation, it seems having her on the trip is truly priceless - if you look at it that way, paying $700 to ensure she can come with you and that you all can live comfortably and without guilty consciences during your stay seems like a real no brainer!

I take issue with what you want to do for reasons already mentioned by others but, mostly, I just don't think that this is the time to be ultra budget conscious (shady or otherwise). Make the most of your time with your mom and this trip together while you are all able!

I'd give everything I have if it meant I could bring my dad back somehow and take a vacation with him. Sadly, he is deceased and that can't happen :(

Live it up with your mom...you won't regret it ever!

If you have a small child that is going to sleep in your and dh's bed and your mom will have her own bed, I don't seeing this being a "fire hazard". If you are comfortable with her being in your room, who cares what anyone else thinks!!!! As far as getting in the parks early, you'll just have to miss those days or have your dh bring her after the parks open to the general public and you bring your children early. Good luck in your decision and have a great vacation, Linda

I think the thing about this that makes everyone so angry is that we all paid for who is really in our party- so why shouldn't you have to? OK the dining plan is free for Aug. and Sept., but if you had to pay for it, the adult plan costs three times more than the child. Even though they are generic credits, if you were paying for it in theory, you would be trying to switch a child's cost for an adults!
I think the other thing making people angry is that you want help with your somewhat shady scheme! You know how the disboards are, we all get upset if someone brings a $12.00 mug back!! And I realize that Disney is a multi- billion dollar company- but what is wrong is wrong!
Look, we all like putting one over on the man, but this is a bit too much in my opinion! I have to say though, in one way I admire your aplomb for bringing it up here on the boards!
My advice, bring her, but bite the bullet and pay the $$$$ !

Enough reason to get Moderate!! Don't make her feel small in anyways.
Are you going to send her back on the bus, if they don't let her in?

Not worth taking a chance on a special occasion like this. IMHO

Well, K&B, that's what I was thinking too...one kid in the bed with us, and one in the bed with Mom....

They are young, not teenagers....but I guess most people don't feel that way.

That's also what I was thinking about the EMH, just going in after the parks open--one hour is not that big a deal, and she'll be too tired to stay for the late hours, so I could take her back while my husband stayed with the kids in the park during the EMH.

We would only be in the room to sleep, not much longer--but I guess that's really not the bottom line, is it?

Thank you and the poster before you (forgive me, I've forgotten your user name right now). I appreciate your kinds words, no matter your opinion.

It is truly awful losing a parent, and I extend my condolences to you in losing your father. I understand completely where you are coming from with taking all the time you can with them and enjoying every minute.

I enjoyed reading your post to me. It was a very touching post.

Thank you.

Okay, all thank you for your posts tonight. This is going to be my last post, as this subject has stirred to much anger for me.

I wanted opinions, not anger. I'm sorry for stirring the pot tonight.

I got my answer--most people do not think they will let someone into the park for morning EMH without a wristband and most people do not think I should put a 5th person in a 4-person room.

Thank you all for your opinions. It has been a lively discussion!
