Extra Magic Hours - How Crowded?

Hi, everyone ! We leave for WDW in 5 days . How crowded are Extra Magic Hours at the parks? Do the crowds thin out a lot, esp. in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot? Also, are Fastpasses still issued during Extra Magic Hours?

I was wondering the same things myself. Right now, I'm planning to go to MK the day I arrive, but MK has EMH in the evening that day. I now don't know whether that's a good thing, or if I should avoid it that day due to crowds. I was also wondering if FP is necessary during EMH.

First I wanted to say, howdy neighbor! I'm in Pleasant Hill.
Anyway, we just got back and to us it seemed the EMH parks were not that crowded at night. None of the parks were really that crowded at all anytime during the week. They do still do fastpasses, but we did not need them for anything.

We went to MK EMH about 2 weeks ago and there were no crowds - we walked on every single attraction and they were sending through lots of empty boats and stuff, too. Only attraction that wasn't a walkon was Peter Pan.

No FPs were being offered that night, but there was no need.

There where no FP offered 2 weeks ago. But if you are going in the next couple weeks I would expect crowds. Schools are out in FL and I am sure the parks will be busy.

FL schools being out would more than likely not translate into a busier EMH, since most FL residents would not be staying on property....

None the less Memorial Day marks the beginning of the "peak season" for WDW, but my understanding is that after memorial day weekend, it ramps up, with crowds and waits gradually trending up.

Then again, it's all just speculation... who knows how crowded or not it will be. I think the most iportant thing to remember is that everyone is there to have a good time!

Well being a FL resident and I pay attention when I am in the hotel parking lots. But I would say 75% of the cars in the lot are from FL. Yes I know some are rentals but you can tell majority are not. I would say only the Orlando Residents would be the only ones that dont stay there, and I actually know several of them that do too.
