In the description of EMH on this site, it mentions the general public can get wristbands at various locations two hours before closing. I know onsite guests can take advantage or EMH, but can other guests purchase these wristbands. Thanks for any info on this. :earboy2:

Where did you read that the "general public" can get wristbands? Far as I know EMH is a benefit for onsite guests only. If they sell the wristbands to anyone- then it's not a benefit really... the parks will be packed even more during EMH!

I remember about a bit over a year ago, they were doing the evening EMH and had a sign that said you could buy wristbands for like $18 or $25, don't remember which. Or maybe that was the e-nights. However anyone could get them.

That was for E-nights. EMH are for onsite guest only. You cannont purchase them. This was one of the things Disney has done to persuade you to stay onsite.

The old E-nights were also only for Disney resort guests. You had to purchase the tickets at your Disney resort for something like $12.00. Just like the current EMH, they could not be used by people staying off site.

Kid,
Don't even worry about it. You're not missing anything by not being able to go to EMH nights. They're so crowded, at least during the peak and normal seasons, that it's really not worth it, unless you're just in the parks to hang out and see what it looks like after dark. Maybe others have had different experiences, but that was ours in the first week of April. :guilty:

Just wanted to be sure. Martha, I don't think we will miss it either because most of the posts here say it is nothing like e-ride nights because it doesn't cost extra. Most people wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to get the ride time. We would stay onsite but my DMIL and DFIL are letting us stay in their RCI timeshare for free for the week. Price is definitely right. As far as where I saw the "general public" statement, it was right here on this site. On the EMH info page under the Theme Parks heading it gives conflicting information. It says for Disney Resort guests only, and then states that wristbands can be picked up by the "general public". Anyway, thanks to all who replied. 57 days to go...... :cool1:

please dont take this as a flaming in any way, just wanted to point out that the page says: "Wristbands distributed no earlier than two hours before the park closes to the general public at the following locations" http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/earlyentry.htm

(I posted this because I'm sure there would be several others like me who were going to go look and see what the page says ;) )

They mean they are available 2 hours before the park closes to others. It says at the top you need a valid resort ID and park pass. I totally see how the wording can be misinterpreted.

It really needs to be reworded. It's meant to indicate that starting 2 hours before the park closes to the general public, the wristbands are available to resort guests. The way it's worded now makes it easy to misinterpret it saying that the wristbands are handed out to the general public 2 hours before the park closes. I understood what it was saying since I'm familiar with how EMH works, but for those who don't know, it needs to be reworded so it's more clear.

We went June 13-23rd and enjoyed EMH. IMO and experience it's only worth it to go to EMH nights if you have gotten your sleep (ie: didn't get up at the crack of dawn that morning) and you plan on staying UNTIL CLOSE. It doesn't slow down until the last 1.5-2hrs in our experience. Up until then... it's very crowded- or atleast appears that way even though the lines may not be extremely long there are TONS of people still there and making the place feel very packed. But those last couple of hours.. much fun. :)

(ps. please note that when we went- the parks closed later for the general public therefore the EMH hours were VERY late... like till 1am in the morning. Our experience might not be indicative of how it will be the last couple of hours when the park closes at 8pm -for example- and EMH only lasts until 11pm. 11pm is not that late for most people... 1am is. That's probably why we enjoyed parks clearing out the last 1+ hrs on EMH nights. This might be totally different when the park is EMH until 11pm only)

Sorry to report that the EMH nights are only for those staying on Disney Property, as those above me have posted.
Some of the EMH at the MK go until 2 am. *ugh* Can you imagine doing that with a bunch of tired toddlers? Not my cup o'tea.
