If I check out of my Disney Resort room at 11:00 AM and keep my room key, could I still use it to gain access to the parks that evening for the EXTRA MAGIC HOUR?

I would say yes.

On one of our package stays it was from "time of check-in till midnight on the day of departure".

Here's another question;

How early should you get in the line to get the wristband to stay in the park when it closes? I would imagine the lines are pretty long, and would hate to wait and then not get in.

I'm new to the boards, so I apologize if this question has already been addressed.

Okay, cool, thanks! I was also wondering how early people get in line to get theses wrist bands? Is it like trying to get a spot for the nightly fireworks shows, where you need to get there 2 hours ahead of time?

There are a number of locations that give out the wristbands. The one closest to the main entrance will always have a long line but the others do not. Someone mentioned that Pirates of the Caribbean is one location that does not have lines for the wristbands. Please note that you can also arrive after the evening EMH and (as long as you are a Disney resort guest) you will be allowed in and given a wristband.
I believe if you go over to allearsnet.com they should have a list of EMH wristband locations.

We got ours in future world across from the Stitch Ride. There was no line at all. Have fun!!
