Hi all, can anybody advise me please. We are flying with Virgin in November on one of the new airbus' that's if it stays the same. Does anybody know the cost of an extra legroom seat either pre-bookable or booking it when we check in.

Many thanks in advance,

Cath :)

Not sure about virgin but mine have quoted £30 per person, but we can't book them until we're at the airport, so we're planning on arriving very early so we can get them, or choose out seats :D

Oh, can't you book these in advance then? Didn't realize that. As we live in France we are flying the day before from Bordeaux into Gatwick and should land at 11ish so will wait till the desk opens at midday then do our check in and drop our bags off. We were thinking of maybe upgrading to PE if the prices were low enough at check in but I have heard some really good reports about how good the extra legroom seats are. What happens with the telly though? Can you see it ok or do they give you a laptop thingy......

That quote was just my airline, and we can only book at the airport because the plane changes all the time, so we'll only know what seats we can book and what plane we have on the day, I'm sure it's different for virgin.

The quote for PE for me was something like £200 each! AND it would mean losing our online discount of £400 as that is only applied to economy flights, so it would cost us £1200 which isn't worth it for us.

Extra leg room is the way to go here. Not sure about the tv's either as they're normally back seat and extra leg room seats are normally the ones without seats in front :S

I'll probably buy a DVD player for us just incase, or load lots of films onto the laptop :D

We have paid for exit row seats with Virgin in the summer. I think it cost us £40 each one way.

we were quoted £250 to upgrade to PE on virgin and would have done it if there were seats, they do charge for extra leg room seats not sure cost tho, think t's in reigon of £50, but pretty sure cant do that with exits as they need to make sure you're phsically fit and able to assist if required in an emergency?
as for the TV's they are stored in the armrest of the seat so fold out from there :-)

We paid £30 each for extra legroom seats last year with Virgin on trip to Tobago; not exit aisle seats. They give you extra 2 inches, which doesn't sound much but it was surprising how much less 'claustrophobic' they were. They were the two rows of 3 seats behind the row of seats just behind the doors (does that make sense LOL!!). The middle section didn't have them.

TVs were same as any other seats-i.e in seat back. I think there were only 12 of these seats available (4 rows of 3) - not sure if there were others in the plane though. (DH says not!!!):goodvibes

You can prebook the exit rows but only if your whole party has no children under 16. I was told that this is because, for safety reasons, they don't want you to be rescuing children from another seat when you should be the first out of the door. At check in they make a quick assessemnt of your fitness, ie no broken limbs, not blind etc as if there is an emergency, you may have to open the door! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

As someone already said, the TVs fold away into the arm of your chair so you can't really watch tv while you eat. But...there is so much extra room and as I get a quite claustrophobic I like the space.
