So we are headed to the world in 9 days and we will be doing site visit for the S/D and going to Fulton's to check out our reception site. We will be meeting with our planner also.

In addition we will be doing our engagement pictures which I am very excited about.

With all of that quickly approaching it has got me thinking about my STDs. Obviously they are going to say the date and where we are getting married, but I just don't know if I should include any extra info.

I am going to have the link to the website/blog on there but I have two sites I have the wedding wire site and the blog I write so I guess #1 which one do I include?

What other info are you guys putting in the save the dates. Should I put info about accomodations? Should I include a picture since my save the dates are not picture ones? Should I include more details about the wedding so that those who do not have technology can get the same info?

Help!

Teresa

Hey there!!

We are sending our STDs later this month, it has our names, wedding date, location, and that a formal invitation will follow. It also has our wedding wire website address on it. I am also creating a pretty basic newsletter to go with it (and that has pictures of us on it :goodvibes) that has information on our wedding, Disney world accomodations, etc. The newsletter is bascially everything our website says, but we have some guests who don't use the internet much including my dad who lives in Massachusetts

Don't know if that helps :confused3

IMO, STDs should be simple. Get the point across but don't overwhelm the guests.

I am sending the STD with our names, the date, the location (Walt Disney World- I'm not doing Lake Buena Vista), and our wedding website address.

In May/June I am going to send out a newsletter with ALL of the information they could possible want-- resorts, tickets, dining, flight info, car rentals, directions, FL discount, AAA discount, etc. This will serve as a good reminder for them.

Early November the invites are going out.

Of course my wedding website will have all the info they need on it and people can call/email/ask questions whenever if they need help!

I just know that if I send out a newsletter with my STDs that my guests aren't going to bother reading it because it's so early for them!

We sent out a large packet for our save the dates which included -

1. A magnet with the dates and location on it
2. A custom lanyard showing our theme with another save the date in the pouch.
3. A pre-rsvp
4. A newsletter showing why we were doing what we were doing and a listing of the events we were planning. Giving them some basic info on the resorts we had chosen (and trying to drill into their heads that they should stay since the transportation will be early and only from there) and some events that might be going on when we are all down there and benefits to staying at Disney. I know I am dealing with some true Disney novices, so wanted to get a start on it.

We are not bothering with a website. I don't want to put all the effort into it, since I know hardly anyone will read it. Better off with the newsletters that way they can have something to refer to.

Here is a picture of the packet that went out.

Here are the 2 sides of the first newsletter. I am currently working a second one.

We kept our STDs simple but we included a planning guide in the mailing with info on booking a Disney vacation (benefits of staying on property versus off, info on the dining plan, info on our venue, etc).

I would definitely include resort booking information. The sooner you can get your guests to make reservations, the easier it will be for you (and you can get a firm estimate on who can make it/can't earlier).

This is what we did for our STDs. Then we sent a newsletter with a lot more info a few weeks later to help people budget and decide whether they could really come or not.

Those are SO cute!! Did you make them yourself?

Nichole- we had almost the same STD's! hahaha I had no idea you used them and thought they were so unique! yay! :yay:

Mine are mini-books too but the "Nostalgia" book :)

Sarah, we got ours from Minted.com:

I posted pics of ours in my PJ and am honestly too tired right now to post them here too or I would  (long day, sorry!)

I agree the more info you give people the more they'll be able to plan and decide if they can really come or not. Ours just went out today and hoping our guests find them helpful!
