Heya

I know i have asked this before.. i just cant find the thread... so quick question...

Our planner said we cannot have extra guests that are not particpating in the whole days events at the ceremony.

The 'extra guests' are a few teenagers and family members that only want to see our ceremony... and are not going to be included in the reception / dp afterward.

Does anyone know if this is correct? I cant see why it would be such a problem for a few people (and im talking like, 8 people max!) to sit at the back of SBP and watch us take our vows? After they are just going to go off and do their own thing. Surely it would be better for them to be sat at the back, then have them hanging around outside SBP trying to catch a look?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure this has something to do with the food and beverage mins. Some might start doing this to "cheat" the system. I understand that you aren't, but this is my guess on why it's not allowed.

I did ask my Wedding consultant (don't have a planner yet) about this a while ago, I want to say a month or two ago. My Grandfather lives in FL, as well as my Aunt and cousin, so I thought maybe some of them would only want to come to the ceremony since it's on a Tuesday. Or if my grandfather had any friends he would like to come.

She said it would be okay, but just to keep in mind that if any of these people tried to go to the cocktail hour or reception it could get awkward and we would have to pay for them if they did.

Ultimately we don't have any extra people that would not be invited to the reception, so I haven't really had to follow-up any more than that.

Good luck!

I had a few people at our ceremony that did not go to our reception. We used the pavilion.

I think total there were 4 people, and it wasn't a problem. We only had about 50 total.

thanks girls... this is helpful.

I know the guests will not suddleny invite themselves to anything after the ceremony... people has just expressed an interest of going to the ceremony only and thats all.

Im sure if we make it absolutely clear to the planner that they will not be invloved in anything but the ceremony, they might agree.

We had four extra people at our ceremony as well and didn't tell anyone in advance or anything like that!! I doubt it'll be a problem at all!
