Extra FP question

So I know you have to use all three fast passes before you can book a 4th or 5th but I want to verify that you have to actually "use" them... if you pass up on one of them (because you don't need them and/or your touring schedule changes) and you "hop" to another park, will you still be able to book your 4th fast pass?

Just want to double check that you do, indeed, need to use them whether or not you need it.

OTOH, there is a more convoluted way to get to the "4th FP+" that requires cancellation of two of your
original FP+ reservations BEFORE you actually use the other one.

I'm loathe to type out the details.

Is it that you want to cancel 2 unwanted FPs so that you can more quickly get another FP for a headliner in a tiered park? AND if so, somehow the system requires you to do the cancels before using the one desired FP ? (Just nod your head if I'm on the right track, or frown if im wrong and I'll do a search for the thorough answer

You can use your FP without using it as well.

There are two FP "checks" when entering a queue. The fist mickey head you scan your Magic band at simply checks to ensure you have a valid FP. The second check later in line actually takes the FP (used). So when we were standing in line at Character spot by the second FP check, some folks entered through the door and simply scanned their Magic Bands.

We asked why they would do that, and the attended told us to "use"their FP so they can grab a 4th one.

Got it! Thanks! & apologies for the umteenth FP question... I couldn't find it on a search and just needed a quick answer.

Can't wait to try out the changes to the FP+ system for myself.
