Hey Guys,

I'm sure someone out there is going through what I am right now. We bought a new mattress for our bedroom about a year ago, but I haven't been able to find sheets that fit it at all yet!

It's a Sealy Posturepedic Double Pillowtop mattress. Every deep pocket sheet set I have bought will only cover the top pillowtop and the actual mattress. So the bottom pillowtop is still left exposed. The deep pocket sheets sold at like Target, just don't cut it. And the sheets that would fit it are like $150! I can't imagine paying that much for a sheet!

Any Suggestions?

It is true that you may have to look in some of your better department stores for these. Although, I did manage to find some at Eddie Bauer on clearance. That is the other trick with sheets. When there is a sale at these dept. stores, go. Ususally they are 1/3 to 1/2 off. Aslo, look for irregulars. Lots of times they are just misprinted or the flat sheet is slightly off square. Never anything that would be a usage issue. If all else fails, pick up those sheet garter thinggies. Not the most attractive, but they do work.

Good luck!

How deep is your mattress? We just bought a new mattress and had to buy all new sheets. The mattress is 17" high. I found 300 tc separate sheets at Kohl's that fit a mattress up to 18" high. I buy a queen size fitted sheet for the bottom and a king size flat sheet for the top. I cannot buy a queen set because the flat sheet does not cover the mattress. I think the two sheets cost me about $70.00. I use the pillow cases from my old sheets since they coordinate with the new solid sheets.

Hope this helps.

Unforunately once a mattress get more than 15 inches thick it is VERY difficult to find sheets to fit. My mattress is 17 inches thick and the only sheets I've found and like are the Linens and Things Suprima Cotton Sheets. Yes, they are expensive, almost all sheets that fit larger mattress are. I think I paid almost $200 for one set of sheets, and that was the cheapest I could find. I did have a cheaper set, but it didn't fit all the way around, so that didn't work. Both Linens and Things and Bed Bath Beyond have special sections for extra thick mattresses. That is the only area that will have sheets that will fit properly. Any sheet that doesn't state that it will fit mattresses up to a certain thickness will not fit a double pillow top mattress (extra deep pocket sheets included they usually only go up to around 13 inches). Make sure you measure the thickness of your mattress, since they do sell sheets in different widths. Some go up to 16 inches, some up to 18 inches, some up to 20 inches and I've seen them go up to 24 inches.

Funny you should ask! My new 17 1/2 inch double pillowtop mattress is being delivered on Friday. I searched online and the best price I found for sheets that will fit was at Linens & Things, so I am heading there. My old mattress is one-third as thick as the new one. Can't wait!!!

Another veteran of the "ooops the new, pillow top, mattress is too thick for the sheets" issue here! I echo Linens-N-Things. Expensive, but very worth it. The fitted sheet will not come off the bed! Sometimes, I have a hard time getting it off to wash the sheets! I think I paid $100 for a King set.

Funny you should post this now. I have a pillowtop now, and my sheets creep up. However, we will probably be getting a new set in the next few weeks, that will be WAY thicker than the one we already have. I have been wondering how I will ever find sheets for this new one LOL.

I've found them a JCP also. They often have sales so they arent too expensive.

Good luck! ;)

Nope, unfournately the sheets Pottery Barn sells only go up to mattresses that are 14 inches thick. I used to get my sheets there, they are the best!!!!

When I worked at Bed, Bath and Beyond a zillion years ago, we sold them.

I buy mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond; the ones I bought last time will fit up to 20".

That's strange. I have pillowtop queen and my PB sheets fit just fine.

I also have a set from Bed, Bath and Beyond that fit nicely...I think they're Croscill?

I have a Kingsdown Pillow top. We got sheets at Costco and JC Penny. Costco had the best price. Also, the Home Store has the wider comforter that you need because of the higher mattress.

Thanks so much you guys! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in this fight for the fitted sheets!

Our mattress is I believe 18 inches thick. So it's like I have the option to either pay an arm and a leg for 1 little sheet, or deal with the sheets creaping themselves up while we sleep. I even thought about using two fitted sheets. One for the bottom half of the mattress, and just leave it on there until we flip it, and cover the top half of the mattress with another fitted sheet, but I don't know if that would work. Hmmm....maybe I'll try that this weekend!

I just can't imagine paying almost a hundred bucks for 1 fitted sheet! Maybe I'm being cheap and will end up breaking down and buying one, but when I see entire sheet sets for under $30 I want to cry. LOL::yes::

Anyways.... Thanks so much for all the info! Love yall, mean it!:wave2:

Thanks for posting this question! I too do the sheet shuffle every night. And I have to have two comforters because they don't fit either and for some reason I always get the short end. Now I know where to go to get proper fitting non- agrivating sheets.

Land's End?

My mom had great success with their sheets. We've also had good luck with Ralph Lauren sheets.
