I am going to WDW in May. I notice it is cheaper to buy a 7 day base than a 5 day hopper. If I buy the base. can I use a ticket for entranc and then if we want to hop just use another day of ticket? Or can I only use one ticket a day? We have a 5 and 3 yo and I think we may want to hop 1 or 2 times but not everyday.

Sorry but you can only use one ticket a day, if you want to go to another park you have to have the hopper.

If you are planning on hopping then buy the Hopper option. The base ticket,(without hopper option) will only allow you to enter one park per day. You may go in and out of that park as many times as you wish, but you are not allowed to use another day and go to a different park...I hope this makes since and helps....

I would get the extra days. Hopper is really good when parks are crowded, but in May it should be OK. I would get the extra days and then plan to have a more leisurely visit. There is plenty in each park to keep 3/5 interested for at least 1/2 day and you can always swim at hotels b/c weather should be great.
I would rather have 2 extra days and go at a leisurely pace than PH.

For those ages, entrance around 9-9:30 (unless you are really early risers), then do some rides(before line get too long--at 9:30 you can walk on most rides), then a show, or have a leisurely lunch, watch a parade and go back to hotel to swim, nap, and go back in PM if you want---but at that age, my kids were ready to call it a day and NEVER really wanted to go back in at night--plus the fireworks were too noisy.

This question comes up almost every day.

No, you cannot enter more than one park per day with the same ticket unless you have the hopper option. The WDW computer keeps track of all park entries for each ticket and won't let you through the gates of a second park.

Despite what Ido said, May can and does get crowded; the later in the month, the more crowded it will be, especially at MGM during Star Wars Weekends (though MGM clears out during the week). The hopper option gives you a lot of flexibility - if you arrive at a park in the morning and find it too crowded for your taste, you can hop to another. Or if you can only get an ADR at Crystak Pakace on your Epcot day, you can hop to MK for dinner. And if you spoted something in an Epcot shop that you must have before you go home but you can't find it anywhere else, you can hop back into Epcot on your last day to buy it.

I always spring for the hopper option, every trip.

The OP doesn't want the extra days because they are thinking of staying longer. They are asking if extra days on a ticket can be used to hop. They cannot.

The system is set up in such a way that you cannot use a base ticket that does not have the hopper option in more than one major park (AK, EC, MGM, MK) on one day. Also, either a base or hopper cannot be used in a minor park (BB, DQ, PI, TL, WWS) without the Water Parks Fun and More option.

If you have been to one park and attempt to use your ticket in another park on the same day, when you put it in the turnstile several things will happen.

1. The display on the Guest side will show "ACCESS DENIED".

2. The turnstile will not unlock.

3. The two line display on the Greeter side will show information about the ticket's entitlements on the top line, and on the lower line it will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". (If a minor park without WPF&M it will say "ACCESS NOT PERMITTED".)

If the Greeter wishes, by pushing a button he can see exactly when and where the ticket was used last.

Depending on the Greeter, and how crowded it is, you will either be told your options at that time or told to go to either Guest Relations or any ticket window for further explanation.

If I have the time, or when I am in a booth, I will explain the options as follows:

1. Upgrade the ticket to a hopper (currently $45 whether one day or ten day and adult or child).

2. Go back to original park, as unlimited same day re-entry is permitted.

3. Just go away and don't bother me (actually I wouldn't say that).

If at a Water Park I would explain that for $50 you could upgrade a ticket to include between 3 and 6 minor park entries, depending on the number of base days on the ticket. Or if you plan on only one day at a minor park that you purchase one-day tickets (currently $36 adult, $30 child 3-9).

Since Disney charges only $2 per additional day over five, $45 for a hopper and $50 for WPF&M, it does not make economic sense for Disney to allow use of an extra day on a non-hopping ticket to hop.

Better check your old posts when recycling them again, Mike. It's been $39 and $33 plus tax for one day tickets since February. ;)
